Our Words
Yes that is a very important subject especially in a political atmosphere that we Christians live in.It is so easy to get caught up in the moment and then get carried away with our "Words".Expressing our personal opinions brought on largely by our worldly wisdom and false hope in this world system and forgetting we are living in a cursed environment headed up by the angel of light that hates us and also forgetting that this system we live under will never be perfect no matter how much we try to convince ourselves otherwise by the ideologies of politicians. We will always find fault within this system if that is what our minds continually dwell on.God's Word tells us what we should let our minds dwell on in (Philippians 4:8)
"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things."
Venting our frustrations can many times reveal the fool within this sinful nature and the Spirit indwelling us finds a difficult time revealing Christ through us in that state of mind.We have the very high privilege of Christ being seen in and through our lives so why should we allow this world system to rob us of that great honor. Not only are we depriving ourselves of a life of peace, hope and comfort but we can even find ourselves hurting our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are one in this Body of Christ and that should be first in our thoughts and our words. Then on top of that what kind of example are we to the lost world and our loved ones that might not know Christ as their Savior who we pray for.Identifying with this world system and letting it effect our thinking and our words isn't the greatest of witnessing is it?
"A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise man holds them back."(Proverbs 29:11)
"Do you see a man hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him."(Proverbs 29:20)
"He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive."(Proverbs 17:27,28)
Solomon through his Godly wisdom sure knew how to drive the point home.Sometimes it's what we don't say, that say's so much. God can use our words to comfort, teach and encourage and just maybe inspire others to turn to God's Word for salvation or to get to know their Savior even more by being in His Word and growing in grace and knowledge. If the Word of God is having the right effect in our lives, and that means we need to be in it,then we will be a blessing to others.
"Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one."(Colossians 4:6)
How you ought to answer, now that is a responsibility and that means time spent in the Word and in much prayer. Love but not compromising the Gospel, not condoning.Being firm about the truth. Having the knowledge, yes but also having the Godly wisdom to know how to share that knowledge. Redeeming the time, knowing when that door is open, having the knowledge and the wisdom to present it when the question is asked. Sometimes our facial expressions and other body actions along with our words help express our true meanings. That's why some of the things we write and post might not express our true feelings and they are taken wrong and out of context, but one day and just maybe today,we that make up the church will all be together and can truly express our feelings for each other and our Beloved Savior.
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.Wherefore comfort one another with these WORDS."(my emphasis)(1Thessalonians 4:16-18 |
