Online! | Re: Revival in West Virginia | | MINGO COUNTY, W. Va. - There's a new sound coming forth from the hills of southern West Virginia - a sound many prophets have foretold but haven't heard until now.
For the past three weeks, the large sports complex in the small coal-mining town of Williamson, West Virginia, has been filled to the rafters with people crying out for God.
It all started when Tennessee evangelist Matt Hartley visited a local church for what was supposed to be a three-day revival service but it just kept going.
"This is not man-made, charismatic, hyper spiritual," Hartley told CBN News. "This is the presence of God that is overwhelming us, that is being released upon hungry people that are tired of just stagnant Christianity and "safe" church."
"They want Jesus more than anything else. That's why they're here," he said _________________ SI Moderator - Greg Gordon

Online! | Re: | | Brother,
I emailed Dan Biser this. This makes me think of Ravenhil's defintion of revival, I am sure God is involved in a wonderful way we must just be careful to label something as revival easily.
Revival Lectures Series - Short by Leonard Ravenhill https://www.sermonindex.net/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?lid=237&commentView=itemComments
From the message:
I think that one of the offenses of revival, in the historic sense, is that it cannot be organized. As Doctor Tozer said, "When revival comes it changes the moral climate of a community." You can have revival that covers a church -- Spurgeon had that. You can have a revival that covers a city. You can have a revival that covers the whole nation -- and I am thinking in this context more than in the other contexts (though sometimes revival spreads from here to there -- like fire spreads.)
Revival cannot be organized -- evangelism can be organized. Revival cannot be subsidized -- evangelism can and usually it must be. Revival cannot be advertised -- evangelism can.

| Re: | | I have been following and contacting about this. Unfortunately, there are numerous red flags about what is touted 'as God'. It is not to say that God has not begun a work here; however, we also know that men can taint the work of God. I am hopeful of follow-up with many in this area. |

| Re: | | I just read the article that was posted. It seems something is occurring in West VA. Let us pray that this is genuine. The test will be changed lives that stand the test of time.
Anyway I will be optimistic and pray that this be a move of God. And that last will be changed.

| Re: | | It is amazing to me that when God starts moving somewhere how the critics start coming out on this forum, trying to define what is going on.
This could be the start of a revival, and I don't have a problem calling it a revival when the Spirit of God is moving in High Schools, young people are getting saved, praying, and having bible studies.
Why don't we thank God for what He is doing instead of always trying to define it, because of certain things that we see that don't fit our definition of revival.
What is going on in West Virginia is exactly what we have been praying for, and I am going to do all that I can in prayer to see it spread.
