| A Social Club versus the Church | | Galatians 1:8 English Standard Version But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
As I constantly listen to a site fighting for the faith and have read alot of christian books
When does a church no longer become a church when it does not preach the gospel. There are so many churches that do not preach the Gospel it is unbelievable. You can just read numerous books in the christian bookshop or other sources
When does a church no longer when it no longer preaches Gods word
English Standard Version 2 Timothy 4:2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

| Re: A Social Club versus the Church | | When does a true church become a false church might be a better question. Satan has His church, too. We are to come out of the false church. But, many won't. There is great mixture and this is why the tares and wheat grow up together.
Matthew 13:25-27 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

| Re: | | Hi All
while reading the posts the answer that came to my mind which was interesting was think of the church as a bride in physical form. should it look like a barbie doll with all the glitter and gold, or like a homeless women in rags and dirt. for me it was Corrie ten Blooms, has authority, dressed in modest clothes, walks in authority but is as approachable as your own grandma knowing that she has wisdom in a gentle manna but will also tell you off with love and understanding.
sorry if this is offensive in anyway but it seems that you could put a character that demonstrates the differences in churches.
For me, the church has sound teachings that don't sway to every fashion that tries to enter the church. everybody has their own part in the church and working towards perfection in Christ. I love it when going to a church and older man or women is led by the holy spirit and they pray with you or give you words of wisdom that has been tried and tested over many years. I like the worship to be lead by accoustic guitars or piano and you can hear the congregation sing from their hearts in strength and is led by people that understand what the music is there for and not an x factor audition. :) _________________ karl rashleigh

| Re: | | Hi All
I have been thinking about this topic further testing whether what I have said is on track or not. Zac Poonan did an excellent sermon on not being drunk in this world which you can reference with the whore of Babylon and her cup of vile wine.
When I did a study on the different wines in the bible there is a wine called “strange wine” and basically this wine had mind altering herbs used, which people would take to basically get of their heads to counteract boredom, pain or feeling down.
I liken this to churches that use methods other than God to entice people in the church and make them feel good such as Music, videos, positive psychology mixed with bible language and Fun gatherings. No depth of word is given and the focus is about love and blessings without any hint of sin and the condition of man.
All of these things spike the serotonin in our minds but like any drug or substance there is a coming down of these things where we feel down in our emotions and need to look for the same high again. There is no stability in these church settings as the congregation is constantly on a roller coaster of emotions rather than the stability in Christ with a sound foundation.
This also opens the door for Satan to lure members of the congregation that are ignorant of Satan’s wiles to fall into the lusts of the flesh. Time and time again I have seen people fall into adultery, or financial ruin because of this.
The true church will always preach the full gospel of God from sin to redemption knowing that the guidance of the Holy Spirit is vital to the life of the church to remain walking with Jesus and knowing our heavenly father. Yes people in the church are not perfect but they strive for that everlasting perfection in Christ growing each day in spiritual understanding and maturity. They equip the saints to walk in the world and preach the gospel as well as praying diligently for each other.
Just my thoughts this morning

| Re: | | Strong drink, strong wine, is also a metaphor in the Bible for false doctrine. Sometimes fornication is also a metaphor for spiritual fornication/idolatry.
Rev 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
Rev 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
Isa 28:7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
False doctrine lulls one into a spiritual slumber of false security.
Isa 29:9 Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. Isa 29:10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
Jer 51:7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD'S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

Totally agree,in my study of wine, i also found that there was a medicinal wine which was non-fermented and it used to be used by the roman soldiers to revitalize when they came back from combat. I haven't fully explored this in the bible yet but it was a good wine as it didn't make you drunk but gave you lots of anti-oxidants.
I also agree that prayer is a vital part of the church. _________________ karl rashleigh

| Re: | | Yeah, crusader, all the problems of the world, or more specifically the religious world, cannot be blamed on physical intoxication. But, the intoxication of "other" Gospels and false teachings are just as enticing to the flesh if not more so than liquor is. |

Is that true is prayer the test as people can pray and worship a difference Jesus or pray to a different Jesus.
If prayer is the true test then that is, then prove it from scripture.
1 Cor 11 1 Oh, that you would bear with me in a little folly--and indeed you do bear with me. 2 For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted--you may well put up with it! 5 For I consider that I am not at all inferior to the most eminent apostles. 6 Even though I am untrained in speech, yet I am not in knowledge. But we have been thoroughly manifested among you in all things. 7 Did I commit sin in humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you free of charge? 8 I robbed other churches, taking wages from them to minister to you. 9 And when I was present with you, and in need, I was a burden to no one, for what I lacked the brethren who came from Macedonia supplied. And in everything I kept myself from being burdensome to you, and so I will keep myself. 10 As the truth of Christ is in me, no one shall stop me from this boasting in the regions of Achaia. 11 Why? Because I do not love you? God knows! 12 But what I do, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things of which they boast. 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. 16 I say again, let no one think me a fool. If otherwise, at least receive me as a fool, that I also may boast a little. 17 What I speak, I speak not according to the Lord, but as it were, foolishly, in this confidence of boasting. 18 Seeing that many boast according to the flesh, I also will boast. 19 For you put up with fools gladly, since you yourselves are wise! 20 For you put up with it if one brings you into bondage, if one devours you, if one takes from you, if one exalts himself, if one strikes you on the face. 21 To our shame, I say that we were too weak for that! But in whatever anyone is bold--I speak foolishly--I am bold also. 22 Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I. 23 Are they ministers of Christ?--I speak as a fool--I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often. 24 From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; 26 in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; 27 in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness-- 28 besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches. 29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to stumble, and I do not burn with indignation? 30 If I must boast, I will boast in the things which concern my infirmity. 31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying. 32 In Damascus the governor, under Aretas the king, was guarding the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desiring to arrest me; 33 but I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall, and escaped from his hands
2 Timothy 4 1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
2 Timothy 4 talks about keeping in Sound Doctrine and Evangelising. _________________ Dominic Shiells
