Janjua Rajputs Oct 22, 2015 01:00 am Today's Devotional
I Peter 2:4-5 & 9, RSV "Come to Him, to that Living Stone, rejected by men but in God's sight chosen and precious; and like living stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ ... But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
Intercessors, He is talking about you! Act, live, and intercede with the authority He has given His “royal priesthood.” Boldly declare these words before God, and all the powers watching us will proclaim God’s words of life into the lives of the Muslim Janjua Rajputs.
Pray for the realization of this power to come into the lives of His messengers who must go to the Rajput peoples of Pakistan.—RR
Today's People Group
(This fictitious story is intended to illustrate aspects of this people group’s lives.) A car drove into a gas station, and the attendant saw that the people inside the car were men wearing turbans. “Are you Sikhs?” he asked, and the men nodded. “Then I’d turn back if I were you.” The attendant gestured towards the two-lane highway. “That’s Janjua country up ahead. The Janjua hate Sikhs. You don’t want any trouble.” “Thanks for the advice.” After filling up with gas, the car turned back. According to the Joshua Project, there are 215,000 Muslim Janjua Rajputs living in Pakistan. This people group dominates some parts of Punjab Province. Three hundred years ago Janjua Rajputs were ruled by a Sikh Empire. Then they rebelled and gained their independence. After that the Janjua often fought wars against Sikh dominated empires. These wars didn’t stop until the 1800s when Pakistan came under British rule. Today the Janjua are 100 percent Muslim, and they consider the various Sikh people groups of Punjab to be infidels, mortal enemies to either be killed or converted. There are no known followers of Jesus Christ among the Janjua Rajputs.
Pray that the Janjua would be at peace with all of their neighbors. May this people group come to see Jesus Christ as the true source of peace. Ask God to lead the faithful workers to reach out to this people group with the message of salvation.
***** GOVERMENT AROUND THE WORLD: terrorism and Islamic insurgency are the biggest problems facing the world today, some leaders of nations are handicap in handling it, some are insincere, while some actually sponsors terrorism. Such atmosphere of disorder hinders the spread of the gospel, Pray for wisdom and supernatural empowerment for governments fighting insurgency/terrorism. Let the scepter of God's rule prevail over various governments of the world. Pray specifically for Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, Nigeria, etc |
