 Your Thoughts Please!!

Brothers & Sisters In Christ:

After the recent final supreme court decision I have had a heaviness and sorrow unlike anything I have ever felt in my 54 years on this earth. Celebrated my wife and sister in laws birthday yesterday with our family and I was in a daze, at the end my mother in law hugged me and kissed me goodbye and she grabbed my face and asked me why I was so quite I had to do all I could to keep from balling.

God created man and woman over 6,000 years ago, He laid out the pattern for both in the garden of Eden and now the clay is saying to the Potter that we are going to redefine the covenant of marriage.

I have been at a loss the whole weekend asking the Lord how can this be? Where do we go from here? Is there ANY hope?

I am not angry or frustrated and while there is a heaviness and sorrow I feel something I have never felt before. By Gods grace the Lord ministered to our small little church, His Spirit came and comforted.

My brother in law sent a video last night and asked me to watch it. It is Alex Kendrick who produced and acted in several Christian films he and his brothers wrote and created along with the help and prayers of their church and the saints.

If you have time, please watch it and share your thoughts. He shares about the church coming together and uniting and I am sure this was filmed before the final ruling of the SCOTUS on Friday.

What he says is what I long for. A united body of Christ led and directed by the Holy Spirit. While I am aware that there is a unbelieving scoffing spirit over much of Christianity. I guard myself, my heart, and my confession to say and proclaim Gods holy word and precious promises, however, the questions still loom.

Is it possible for God to still reunite us? To make us ready for His return? To avert, postpone, or delay His wrath so that souls might be saved?

I feel alone and yet I KNOW that I KNOW, that I am not alone. I long, hunger, and thirst for unity with the brethren, Gods saints, His sheep, His people. I am so tired of the strife, division, and discord within the church, families, and our country.

All I hear is that persecution is coming and that we are going to lose our religious freedoms. To me, why should we care? Persecution and enmity with the world goes with the territory of following Christ. Instead of sounding the alarm about coming persecution shouldn't we sound the alarm to repent? If we are truly repentant we should welcome persecution not run from it or fear it.

Here is the link to Alex's exhortation:

God Bless Us All

 Re: Your Thoughts Please!!

Hello David-

In your opinion why do you think this latest gay marriage issue is so upsetting to the church? I mean there are other major issues that have largely been ignored, like a 50% divorce rate and mass consumption by the church of worldly media. There are others as well.

While I certainly agree that this latest SC decision is tragic, I am not sure why it is more tragic than other things that should really bug the church.

It almost seems like the church is waiting on "one more thing" before she gets serious with God.

And unfortunately I don't think this gay marriage thing will be that one more thing.

 Re:

My opinion is that it seems to be a threshold that society is giving the finger to God. There are 2 main camps in the homosexual movement. People who hate God and want religion out of their business and those who use God to say we should love everyone and everyone has the right to love everyone. It becomes stripped of what sin it because that camp is ignorant of sin is but loves to taut love as love wins.

My heart has been vexed this weekend. Even my supervisor was up in arms over this and talked about it at work.

divorce, pornography, stealing, lieing etc. are considered actions, The Church and individuals are welcome to speak and preach against actions.
What the court ruling has done is redefine the act and lifestyle of homosexuality from that of an action and now has equated it similar to that of race.
The obvious direction of our society is to stamp out any and everything that it deems as racist! do you see what the court ruling has just done to the Bible and Biblical Christianity ?
Do you now understand why Persecution to all Bible Believers has basicaly became inevitable. It could be 5 years or 50 years but the course to stamp out Biblical Christianity has been set.

Brother,
Many of us that have stood in the gap praying for the Supreme Court, and understanding the implications of this decision, share your grief.

God will lead us and show us where to go from here as we seek His face.

Yes, there is great hope because our hope is not in the Supreme Court or the political system, but our hope is in God, who is faithful, and whose promises are true. His Word will not come back Void.

"Christ in us is the hope of glory."

 Re:

Todd,
I cannot explain how or why I feel something major has happened and I agree that there has been many things over the years that are eroding away at what we hold dear. Yes the divorce rate, adultery, social media, fleshly worship, false shepherds, and the list goes on, are all major issues for sure.

I believe John used a word that might best describe my current feelings, I feel vexed in my spirit. I also believe the day is coming when America will turn her back on Israel in the not too distant future. I wish this were not so, but how much more can God take before He pours out His indignation or like you said, when is the church going to get serious?

Iniquity is abounding and the love (agape) of many is waxing cold. Christians are leaving their first love and are fallen, this is frightening.

1 Peter 4:17-19 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? (18) And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? (19) Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Mike, you are right, there is still hope and God is on the throne I appreciate everyone’s thoughts as I sort through this all and continue to seek His face.
