Satan the god of this world?

Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. - 2 Corinthians 4:4

There is an error we can make towards the devil, we can say that he does not exist at all or we can be overly concerned of his power. Both are ditches that we can fall into when trying to understand the spiritual battle and war we are in as Christians. Our Lord when he went to the cross not only triumphed over all the demonic forces of the enemy but defeated also his powers. In a sense the victory is already won yet the realization of this victory has not fully be applied to the earth. With that said the Scriptures clearly teach that satan is still the god of this world, meaning he has a specific authority still over those who are not in Jesus Christ. Once we become a believers in the Lord Jesus the bond is broken, we are transferred from darkness to light (Colossians 1:13, Acts 26:18), and the strongman is bound (Matthew 12:29). The Scriptures also show the devil as a roaring lion, meaning he is like this in his demeanour and possibility of harm he can do.

In Jesus Christ we are totally free from his power and still though must stand guard against his evil ways. It is wrong to teach that the enemy is not our enemy or cannot cause us harm. He is looking to still harm us and make us unfruitful in our walks with the Lord. Even our Lord warned that if possible the very elect could be deceived by the hosts of wickedness in the last days. Very clearly in Scriptures it is shown that the devil still has power over those who do not believe and we as ambassadors of light can free people from his chains with the Good News and power of God. Go forth in that victory today, release those bound, pray over them in the Name of Jesus. Give hope and light to those who are blind. Jesus will in the end overthrow the enemy with one word from the his mouth on his second coming. We are victors in the Lord. Hallelujah.
