Loma of Cote d'IvoireThe name Loma is derived from the word "lolema," which means "he who is proud of his power." They are probably a sub-group of the Koulango. The people are said to be generally hostile. Their neighbors, the Lobi and Lohron, are wary of them because of their aggressive nature. Each Loma village worships an idol believed to be protecting the village. Other idols are those responsible for riches, strength and the prevention of adultery.Ministry ObstaclesThe people have a reputation for being hostile; workers should pray for a friendly reception to the Gospel.Outreach IdeasThere is a need for Christian resources to be developed in the language of the Loma people.
