The Beauty of Silence in the Palm of His HandRide and ride with all your mightPush the horse into the nightTowards the dawn that’s straight aheadFleeing darkness fleeing dreadI have swam in the stormy seas of chaosI have been caught in the lightning storms of lifePushing mighty boulders up perpetual hillsI have baked in the sun and shivered naked with the chillsI have been a starving manWith my nose pressed against the window paneI have wrestled with this world and sanityAnd known something of what it means to be insaneAnd now I listen to the silenceTis a table set before me fit for a KingA glorious feast of beauty and peaceAn immovable Spirit deep withinAnd in this silence where there is no noiseCan you hear it? Can you hear the still small voice?A feast indeed to a starving manTo remember in your heart where it all beganIn Christ alone I stand or fallTis a starving man who cannot hear His callHis silence His peace tis manna to my soulFor distractions and noise surely take their tollTill there’s nothing left but a valley of bonesAnd tortured men with hearts full of stonesStarving and dying and withering awayThey have long since forgotten how to listen and prayGod is calling He is calling todayWe must learn how to listen, to listen and prayDistractions must cease and an end to all noiseTill we hear again that small still voiceOh Christendom how often I would gather you inAway from the world and its noise and its dinThose who can hear me in that day they shall standIn the beauty of silence in the palm of His hand.
Interesting...I, too, have been distressed with the noise the world imposes upon us via its music, blaring at you everywhere you go, in effect stifling the whisper of God. Last week I posted on the gable end of our house, "Let us be silent so we can hear the Whisper of God." (I cut the letters out of vinyl with a cricut machine. This can be seen from the street which is likely 40 feet from the house. Found this saying on a plaque purchased at Hobby Lobby.) It speaks to me, reminding me how urgent it is that I need to be listening for God's whisper.

There is the noise of the world and there is also the noise of fear and anxiety. Either one is deadly, together they would certainly drown out that small still voice.......bro Frank

One can read the news and if it is to be believed as reported it can scare your silly. On the other hand, how many of the naysayers predictions have come to pass? Their battling average is unimpressive. In any case, it does work to distract one from the LORD, it gets you worrying like nothing else can and will. In the meantime, I deeply appreciate the sustaining power of the LORD and am trusting he will be with us and if things do get bad, He will lead us, sustain us BUT we need to stay close to him now when things go well and not wait until things get unbearable.
