Unreached of the Day: Dakpa of Bhutan

Swahili, Bajuni of Kenya
The Bajun speak a language they call Tikuu, which is a form of Swahili. Although they are a mixture of Bantu, Somali, and Arabs, they still maintain themselves as a distinct cultural group. The Bajun evolved when Arab traders began coming to the coast of Kenya to trade and eventually settle. The way of life among the Bajun has changed very little in the last thousand years. Because the Bajun live so near water, many make their living on the ocean. Almost all Bajun are Shafite Muslims. Their lives revolve around the mosque and daily prayer.

Ministry Obstacles
These people have a long history of following a religion of good works in order to gain acceptance by God. It will be difficult for them to understand that acceptance by God does not come as the result of our good works.

Outreach Ideas
There are many evangelical Christians in Kenya. Pray that some will be given a heart to share the good news of Christ with the Bajun people.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for those in this tribe who claim to be Christians. Pray they will understand clearly how to establish a relationship with Jesus Christ, and be taught how to walk in the power of God's Spirit.

Pray for the entire people group
Please pray for sewage systems, pure running water, and a good electricity supply for this tribe.

Scripture Focus
"Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name." 1 Chronicles 16:28-29
