Re:

Malachi 2:

15 But did He not make them one,
Having a remnant of the Spirit?
And why one?
He seeks godly offspring.

God seeks godly offspring. The work of the Holy Spirit produces godly offspring doesn't it? And whose image will the godly offspring be conformed into? The Seed.

 Re:

Listen for the substance of the promise that Jesus gives to His disciples.

John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

John 14:19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. 20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

In versus 15 and 16 Jesus says that He will send another Helper. Then in verse 17, He promises that He would not leave the orphans, but that He would come to them. Do you see that the Spirit manifests Jesus to His disciples?

Look to verse 21. Do you again see that the substance of the promise will manifest Jesus to those who abide with Him?

Again listen to for the substance of the promise that the Holy Spirit brings to those who abide.

John 16:12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

The Spirit does not speak on His own authority but only of Christ. The Spirit's work is to declare Christ to all who abide.

Going back to Genesis 3:15,

Gen. 3:15 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”

Do you see why enmity would exist between Satan and his seed and "her Seed?"

Now many teach that Christ was a shadow in the OT. This is true only in the sense when one compares the revelation of Christ in the NT. The NT brings clarity to the work of Christ. Things are spelled out, they are looked upon as history to us who live 2000 years after His incarnation. Yet, Christ and the works He did before the foundation of the world exist. His works are real from the time of Adam to this present day. The precepts of salvation, the precepts of being conformed into His image are real for those who followed God in the OT as well as the NT.

The shadow is created by something that already exists. There would be no shadow of something not yet real. It is only a shadow as men see, not as God exists. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are eternal. Man's understanding is dependent on God revealing Himself to man.

When Jesus teaches that the Spirit gives and declares Him to those who live by faith, is it only after He was resurrected? If you believe this then you will not understand and see Christ's work in the OT.

Paul teaches:

1Cor. 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

What does it mean that Christ was their spiritual Rock?

Now if the Holy Spirit according to Scripture declares Christ, and that those who follow the Spirit will be conformed into His image, should we not also see the work of Christ in the OT saints?

Just like we have seen the work of Lucifer manifest himself in those who are his seed, we should also see the attributes of Christ manifested in those who live by faith in the OT.

I leave you with this for the summer. Read the OT, and look for Christ manifesting Himself in the OT saints. Remember He is the King of Righteousness and Peace. You will see judgement for the wicked and mercy and grace for those who live by faith.

Many look at the OT and see a God of wrath. Does not the Son carry out the wrath. Many look at the NT and see the God of mercy, yet they fail to see the God of wrath, the King of Righteousness that will again judge this world. In the OT many will not recognise the King of Peace because they are taught that Christ began His work at the cross.

In Christ
Jeff

 Re:

Here is another example of OT Scripture teaching about the "woman" of Genesis 3:15.

Prov. 8:1 Does not wisdom cry out,
And understanding lift up her voice?
2 She takes her stand on the top of the high hill,
Beside the way, where the paths meet.
3 She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city,
At the entrance of the doors:
4 “To you, O men, I call,
And my voice is to the sons of men.
5 O you simple ones, understand prudence,
And you fools, be of an understanding heart.
6 Listen, for I will speak of excellent things,
And from the opening of my lips will come right things;
7 For my mouth will speak truth;
Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8 All the words of my mouth are with righteousness;
Nothing crooked or perverse is in them.
9 They are all plain to him who understands,
And right to those who find knowledge.
10 Receive my instruction, and not silver,
And knowledge rather than choice gold;
11 For wisdom is better than rubies,
And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.
12 “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence,
And find out knowledge and discretion.
13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil;
Pride and arrogance and the evil way
And the perverse mouth I hate.
14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom;
I am understanding, I have strength.
15 By me kings reign,
And rulers decree justice.
16 By me princes rule, and nobles,
All the judges of the earth.
17 I love those who love me,
And those who seek me diligently will find me.
18 Riches and honor are with me,
Enduring riches and righteousness.
19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold,
And my revenue than choice silver.
20 I traverse the way of righteousness,
In the midst of the paths of justice,
21 That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth,
That I may fill their treasuries.
22 “The LORD possessed me at the beginning of His way,
Before His works of old.
23 I have been established from everlasting,
From the beginning, before there was ever an earth.
24 When there were no depths I was brought forth,
When there were no fountains abounding with water.
25 Before the mountains were settled,
Before the hills, I was brought forth;
26 While as yet He had not made the earth or the fields,
Or the primal dust of the world.
27 When He prepared the heavens, I was there,
When He drew a circle on the face of the deep,
28 When He established the clouds above,
When He strengthened the fountains of the deep,
29 When He assigned to the sea its limit,
So that the waters would not transgress His command,
When He marked out the foundations of the earth,
30 Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman;
And I was daily His delight,
Rejoicing always before Him,
31 Rejoicing in His inhabited world,
And my delight was with the sons of men.
32 “Now therefore, listen to me, my children,
For blessed are those who keep my ways.
33 Hear instruction and be wise,
And do not disdain it.
34 Blessed is the man who listens to me,
Watching daily at my gates,
Waiting at the posts of my doors.
35 For whoever finds me finds life,
And obtains favor from the LORD;
36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul;
All those who hate me love death.”

Do you see the woman? Listen to Her exhortation again.

32 “Now therefore, listen to me, my children,
For blessed are those who keep my ways.

In Christ

Solomon writes in Proverbs 8:

3 She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city,
At the entrance of the doors:
4 “To you, O men, I call,
And my voice is to the sons of men.
5 O you simple ones, understand prudence,
And you fools, be of an understanding heart.
6 Listen, for I will speak of excellent things,
And from the opening of my lips will come right things;
7 For my mouth will speak truth;

What happens to those who listen to this woman? What would the nature of one's life resemble if he or she began to listen to this woman?

 Re:

Just as I have given examples in Scripture of men like King Belshazzar taking on the nature of Lucifer, I will attempt to draw a similar precept for those who are the Seed of the woman mentioned in Genesis 3:15.

Hebrews 2:

11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 saying:
“I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”

Here we see a testimony in Scripture which describes the Spiritual union between Christ and those who are changed by the grace with sanctifies. The result of this union is that they become one. Again, "For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one,..."

The author of Hebrews selects a OT Scipture to then demonstrate this precept.

Again, Hebrews 2:12 saying:
“I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”

Now this OT Scripture can be found in Psalm 22.

Psa. 22:0 To the Chief Musician. Set to “The Deer of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David.

Psa. 22:1 My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?
Why are You so far from helping Me,
And from the words of My groaning?
2 O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear;
And in the night season, and am not silent.
3 But You are holy,
Enthroned in the praises of Israel.
4 Our fathers trusted in You;
They trusted, and You delivered them.
5 They cried to You, and were delivered;
They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.
6 But I am a worm, and no man;
A reproach of men, and despised by the people.
7 All those who see Me ridicule Me;
They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8 “He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him;
Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”
9 But You are He who took Me out of the womb;
You made Me trust while on My mother’s breasts.
10 I was cast upon You from birth.
From My mother’s womb
You have been My God.
11 Be not far from Me,
For trouble is near;
For there is none to help.
12 Many bulls have surrounded Me;
Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me.
13 They gape at Me with their mouths,
Like a raging and roaring lion.
14 I am poured out like water,
And all My bones are out of joint;
My heart is like wax;
It has melted within Me.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And My tongue clings to My jaws;
You have brought Me to the dust of death.
16 For dogs have surrounded Me;
The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
They pierced My hands and My feet;
17 I can count all My bones.
They look and stare at Me.
18 They divide My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.
19 But You, O LORD, do not be far from Me;
O My Strength, hasten to help Me!
20 Deliver Me from the sword,
My precious life from the power of the dog.
21 Save Me from the lion’s mouth
And from the horns of the wild oxen!
You have answered Me.
22 I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
23 You who fear the LORD, praise Him!
All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him,
And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!
24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Nor has He hidden His face from Him;
But when He cried to Him, He heard.
25 My praise shall be of You in the great assembly;
I will pay My vows before those who fear Him.
26 The poor shall eat and be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will praise the LORD.
Let your heart live forever!
27 All the ends of the world
Shall remember and turn to the LORD,
And all the families of the nations
Shall worship before You.
28 For the kingdom is the LORD’S,
And He rules over the nations.
29 All the prosperous of the earth
Shall eat and worship;
All those who go down to the dust
Shall bow before Him,
Even he who cannot keep himself alive.
30 A posterity shall serve Him.
It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation,
31 They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born,
That He has done this.

Now when one reads this Scripture one obviosly recognizes the prophesies relating to Jesus. Yet David himself suffers from persecution that comes from his own people and even his own family. David was a faithful man in the midst of many who were the unfaithful people of Israel. In Genesis 3:15, this is a promise for all who are of the woman, There will be enmity between the seed of satan and the Seed of the woman.

The thoughts shared by David in Psalm 22 reflect the real life experiences he had and also speak of the suffering his Lord would come to fulfill. The nature of the experiences differs, but the source of the experiences are the same.

Paul often speaks of the sufferings of Christ taking root in his own life. This is the consequence of the Spiritual union we have with our Lord.

In Christ

 Re:

Proverbs 1:

20 Wisdom calls aloud outside;
She raises her voice in the open squares.
21 She cries out in the chief concourses,
At the openings of the gates in the city
She speaks her words:
22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity?
For scorners delight in their scorning,
And fools hate knowledge.
23 Turn at my rebuke;
Surely I will pour out my spirit on you;
I will make my words known to you.

This is a description of the woman and her Seed. God gave the Counselor to all who would listen. This has been true since the times of Adam and Eve. This is the ancient path.

In Christ
