KarlI think it is just that, half an hour. John observed by whatever means that it was half an hour and wrote it as such because that's what was shown to him. Later on he writes about the 200 million strong army after which he writes "I heard the number" so that's how many soldiers were involved. At the end of the day it says half an hour, which is thirty minutes and I'm not going to crack my head trying to figure out how long that is, I'll just take it as thirty minutes. For God who does not live in linear time like we do time is no big deal. A thousand years is as a day to the lord etc. That is not a hard and fast rule , a day could be 10000 yrs to God or 99999999 yrs, or 65890123456890683460345689 years , see the point is time is not the same necessarily for God as it is for us. If he wants half an hour to be 30 min then it will be, time is his toy and it does his bidding that's the whole point.at any rate for those who are living for God the spirit will reveal these things for them so we will recognize them. The key is to be living for God in the spirit, through that all things are revealed. We get wrapt up in all the details and tryng to figure it out with our heads sometimes that the holy spirit gets sidelined, then we get lost. If we just yield to the spirit and let him teach us more and use our heads less we'd find things to be so much simpler than we have lead ourselves to believe...I'm finding that out every day... By the way how would figuring that out affect your walk of faith or anyone elses? I'm just curious, it may well have a profound effect or it may not mean a thing. In all things we should seek the leading of the spirit for these things are what edify the body of believers. :-D

I think the main point being made here is that a long time to us is not a long time to God. As for the opposite "a day is as a thousand years"; God can do '1000 years' work in a day.

KarlI see. I kinda agree with you concerning the moderation of the discussions, to limit them somehow to what would be edifying to the body of believers. We do waste much time and resource discssing things that will be of no benefit to us. We should be more intent to do whatever God puts on us through His spirit so that we can do works that will abide the fire. We should always be sure that what we do will abide the fire, if it won't, what good does it do?God bless you karl
