I've read this message -- The Role of Prayer in Spiritual Awakening" --listened to it, taught from it in Sunday School and I just now watched it thanks to SI. Man, I am ruined. I am just a wreck. God, help us. What can I do, Lord? What shall I do?

My wife and I watched it again last night. Being stirred about this idea of visible, united prayer. It is one thing for my local church to pray. It is a whole different level of prayer, so to speak, when people of different congregations join, still more when people of different biases join as brothers and sisters of like faith to seek God. I live in a place where everything socially and financially, career advancement, country club membership, etc., is dependent on church made connections in the "in crowd" churches. Were it not for those benefits to the flesh, I doubt most of our large local churches here could keep a crowd large enough to keep the light bill paid.

I cannot get my head around this scene. This is just so far removed from here in the UK. If there was ever a time it was like that here it must have been way, way back. Yes you have the religious institutions like Anglican and RC, but these would be the small minority of the population attending and not particularly enhance your social standing. Otherwise it would be evangelical bible churches where the minority would be even smaller and your social standing is DEFINITELY not enhanced here! The times I have visited the USA (I have been a few times) I have always noted the abundance of 'gospel' churches (particularly in the South) and the number of folk who are regular attendees in contrast to here. It never did line up to me that the percentage who confess Christ in the USA and the obvious Godlessness of most people I met.Combined with the discussion on the Jesus Culture and music, I can see there is a major problem with professing Christianity in the USA. Not saying we are OK in the UK (far from it), but it is so, so different.
