The Movie "Noah": For and Against Review

Today’s Guest : Ray Comfort and Phil Cooke

Topic : Today’s episode of TRUNEWS centers on the upcoming release of the major Hollywood motion picture, “Noah.” In the first half, evangelist and Christian filmmaker, Ray Comfort, shares why he strongly opposes the film and why he believes the movie’s vast acceptance among Christians is just another sign of the end times – A topic covered in his soon to be released film, “Noah and the Last Days.” Later in the program, media consultant and Christian film producer, Phil Cooke, presents his case as to why he believes Christians should embrace the film and Hollywood in general.

Re: The Movie "Noah": For and Against Review

Hi Just in,
Listening to it as I write, some good points on both sides.
I would say that when I go to the movies I don't normally check the back round of the director etc so I would probably not be boycotting many films on that basis.Ray who I think is great in many ways would not boycott paying his taxes on the basis that the government are spending money on unchristian programmes or its like saying you shouldn't got to a certain movie because a certain actor is getting money for that movie;their is nothing wrong with that movie by the way but a movie he made previously was totally unchristian,
Then on the other side Hollywood has promoted so much rubbish over the years etc,
I personally would like to go to see it so that I could see what the copy of the "Ark" looks like,

I just want to share a review here from good fight ministries: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-36Cs-B5iG4

It is not just unbiblical but subtle pervertion of true Noah and God's heart...

Watching this movie sounds like a perfect time waster.

Have not heard that this movie meets the criteria as set forth in Philippians 4:8: "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."

I just hate it when people demean God's Word and his people by rewriting His Story (history), giving ignorant folks wrong impressions.

Where is people's love for Truth? the unembellished, absolute Truth?

This movie wasn't written by anyone for the "Christian" community. This is a BIG box office movie to rake in the money and I for one am going to pay the matinee fee to watch it today! At least I'm being honest about it; a 1/4 or 1/2 of the Christians that are causing all the drama over this movie will rent it on DVD when it comes out and not tell anyone.

Here's an article I got from someone on SI, it's called, "Noah: Five Positive Facts about the Film"

http://www.christianitytoday.com/edstetzer/2014/february/noah-five-positive-facts-about-this-film.html

The author of the article wrote that piece AND "Five Negative Facts about the Film" AND the final installment, "Application for Christians" where he states, "This is not a "buy up a block of tickets" moment for churches.... Noah, the film, may be inspired by the biblical character and events—but it is not a straightforward retelling of that story. Churches who are looking for that kind of movie will not find it here."

"However, many people will go to this film and enjoy it. The main events from the Noah story are depicted in a powerful way on the big screen by name brand actors and quality production."

God bless,
Lisa

And yet, a friend of mine was converted through Jesus Christ Superstar, a very distorted story of Christ. During the crucifixion scene she saw her sins on the cross, and she was convicted. She had never heard the gospel message before! This was to be a lasting conversion, as authentic as could be – and would lead to much fruit in later years.

In the end of the day, it’s not about what man does; it’s about what God can and does do amounst fallen humanity. And we can sure that he is faithful to his covenant promise.

Why is “bad” stuff so often interpreted as a “sign of the end times”? (What might this rhetoric suggest about ones faith?) Did God not carry out his greatest revivals under such societal circumstances?

Hi Diane, with all due respect, that statement might be fine if we were living in a vacuum, but we are living in the reality of the great falling away. For instance, according to Barna, we are living in the most Biblically illiterate generation in 300 years. The pillars of truth are being destroyed all around us. Europe is all but post Christian and now America is following the same path.

So many Americans get their facts from TV and the movies. If one saw the Bible series on the history channel you would never know that homosexuality had anything to do with Sodom. There is, at best, a watering down of truth and the word of God is the foundation for all truth. Can I suggest that there has not been a time like this in the last 1500 years in the west, where wrong became right and day became night.

I will admit that this movie will change nothing. Just like the Passion by Mel Gibson that was so lauded by all the churches. What it may do is simply add to a lack of understanding of Biblical truth and some are more sensitive to that than others............bro Frank

 Re:

To me this movie is just like the "Jesus Loves You" bumper stickers, or some of these awful tracts people hand out. It's giving people what Keith Green called "gospel innoculations". People only repent when they are convicted of sin, and that ONLY happens when christians are on their knees, weeping between the porch and the altar. Nothing will be done without prayer. NOTHING.
