Pastor: Obama is paving the way for the Antichrist

Already no stranger to controversy, the Rev. Robert Jeffress, a Dallas megachurch pastor, is coming out with a book that claims President Barack Obama is clearing the way for the Antichrist.

Jeffress, head of the 11,000-member First Baptist Church of Dallas, writes in his book “Perfect Ending” that he does not believe Obama is the Antichrist, yet he links Obama’s support of gay marriage to the coming of the Antichrist. Many Christians believe Jesus’ Second Coming will feature a confrontation with an enemy called the Antichrist, based on interpretation of passages 1 John and 2 John. ...

Re: Pastor: Obama is paving the way for the Antichrist

Early in the rise of this mysterious man to the highest office in the world's most significant democracy, certain details about him began to circulate on the internet. You have probably read a bunch of them, and wondered with many of us how such a man with no record of accomplishment could be swept into the White House without a resume.

But one thing we did know was that his name had been changed from Barry Soetoro to Barack Obama. That was a little strange.

So when someone put this together, I couldn't help but feel a little chill.

They looked at the passage where Jesus says "I saw Satan as lightning fall from the heights..." (Luke 10:18)

They did a little study and determined that in the original Aramaic Jesus would have said what would sound like (I saw) "barach uh' bahmah"...

Hmmm... A coincidence I'm sure. ??

I don't know Aramaic, Greek, or any other language very well. All I know is that this president's ascendency to power is unprecedented in American History, and his policies are off the charts different from anything we have ever seen from an American President.

I also know that according to the Scriptures, God puts people in power according to His purposes, and I will live with that.

"Blessed is the nation whose God is The Lord." The rest are on their own!

 Re:

Interesting post, Tom.

In my study of the OT prophets I am learning in a deeper way how God is in total control of kings, politics, weather - anything that effects mankind.

It gets to be very difficult when people pressure you to vote because if good people do not vote the evil will be sure to win - so goes the argument. As it is, good people do vote in record numbers and for some reason 'dead people' have the knack to rise up and vote which cancels out all the good people's vote. We see this in our own community - in our community voter fraud is so rampant, corruption in politics so bad that it would give Frank Peretti a lot of material to write several books, I am sure.

I am beginning to think all our fretting about politics is of no avail... How can God's people think they can impact politics when we can't even agree on sin and how to stand against it?

 Re: Peace and righteousness

I keep going back to Jeremiah's haunting words in chapter 5, verses 30, 31.

Jeremiah 5:30-31 NKJV
[30] … An astonishing and horrible thing Has been committed in the land: [31] The prophets prophesy falsely, And the priests rule by their own power; And My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end? …

"My people love it so!"

I am in an email conversation with a liberal friend, who believes government is the answer, should take care of everyone, would never abuse the right of the people to have plenty of food and a safe environment. He seems so willing to just hand over everything and let the governing officials do as they think best.

"If people are hungry we should feed them!" he insists.

He thinks I am cold and heartless when I suggest that freedom is better than safety, and when I agree with Paul that those who will not work should not eat.

Perhaps it is inevitable that western nations will slumber themselves back into the slavery of a socialist social order. Maybe when the benevolent boot of government is crushing their neck, plundering their wealth, and rationing life's necessities will the dawning of what they have lost spur them to a response.

Nothing seems to be working that direction right now??

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the only message of hope in the world today. The Left has gone totally looney, and the Right can't articulate a clear idea to save their life. The love of money has become a large monster in a small swimming pool, and it is a devourer of souls.

What a cry there is right now for redemption, for sanity, for peace on the inside! The cults are flourishing, and the road rage phenomenon is in every public place.

Hide us in the shadows of your wings O God, fill us with the strength that comes with your Spirit, let our mouths breathe your words, protect us from sin and those who serve in the temples of violence!

 Re:

Our political system has always been corrupt to one extent or another. With that said, the corruption increased greatly after the Second World War. Obama is just another front man in the long line of front men. What we see today is the result of a work started a long time ago. The powers that be have trained us to see government as voting for democrat or republican. They have created a dialectic that has placed blinders on the masses without their knowing it. Today we see the fruit ripening. Today we are growing more aware of something that is not right. The birth pangs are becoming more frequent, and more intense. And we can see once again, according to Scripture that we are experiencing the march toward the goal of a one world government. Just like Nimrod in his time, we also see men who want to take his place.
