I had never heard of this new fast growing group until last night. It is even catching on quickly in the USA with already more than a million members worldwide "spreading the love of Mother". They use our same Bibles, and believe in Jesus (much like ordinary Christians), but they also believe that he reappeared in 1948, but before he left (some even say ascended) he named "God the Mother" who is in South Korea ... what a grief to my soul. Oh how false gospels are abounding and saints in the West cannot co-labor with saints to see the Gospel spread. here is a video that will stir you: http://english.watv.org/mission/worldwide.asp

There are actually quite a few of them spread out all throughout the college campuses in california. I've had a couple run-ins with some of them on my own campus at UCLA. The interesting thing is that most of them aren't even Korean and are either African-American or Hispanic...very sad indeed...in my personal opinion, S. Korea has become a dwelling place for every sort of unclean spirit and false teaching as described of fallen Babylon in Revelation. They have taken the blessings of God and turned them into a curse and have become puffed up in their own thinking like the ancient Israelites in their time of prosperity and forgotten their Maker...in my recent visit to S. Korea, my friends were telling me how the country is overrun by cults and the sad thing is that the members of these cults are actually more militant in evangelism than those of the Church. Not only that, there has been a huge resurregence back to buddhism because people are so jaded with the false representation of Christ from the money-hungry megachurch pastors who are caught in scandal after scandal...it literally breaks my heart into pieces to see how far S. Korea has fallen from where they began; in humility and brokenness before the Lord when they didn't have much in regards to material possessions and status...Lord, please, have mercy on the nation of S. Korea and change the hearts of the church leaders and bring them back to you. Stir within them a heart of repentance and brokenness once more as you did in Pyoungyang a 100 years ago when Your Spirit moved forth in power to cleanse and purify Your Church!
I lived in Toronto, Ontario Canada and had to deal with this cult. They came to my door on more than one occasion, they are very commited to door to door evangelism. It is a very dark cult and it is heartbreaking to see how many people are part of it, the videos they show and the things they teach are just eerie. My only word of caution is never visit their church. I made that mistake in my attempts to continue reasoning and sharing the gospel with them, suffice it to say it did not go well. I built a report with several members who came to my door by inviting them back for bible study at my apartment. With prayer and seeking the Lord with this approach it went well. I then was invited to meet them at their church and even though the Lord clearly spoke to me through my mother of all people - she was not even familiar with the situation nevertheless told me it was not a good idea. The result was I was unprepared, isolated in a room and had to go through a sort of spiritual intimidation. It ended with me warning them of the serious danger of their cult, pleading with them to study Scripture with me and eventually coming out and calling them a cult at which point they responsed with they hear that all the time. In the end it was a tense situation that ended in disaster and left me scratching my head as to what went wrong. If you have to deal with this cult maybe you can learn from this or else be better prepared and always listen to the Lord when he speaks to you, even through people you would not normally expect. There are resources and blogs online on people who have family members and other dear ones stuck in this deceptive group, they are very helpful to read if you need to deal with them. The Lord help us to be faithful. Amen.
