 Controversy or Concern? Ad for the UCC

As the title suggests hope that maybe what follows will bring about a true sense of concern and intercession and not fall into the easier route of controversy. Most of us will likely agree but a rebuttal is necessary to any who may have come across the following:

A very subtle but disturbing ad I caught last
night on the History channel

And after looking into it a bit more and reading through all the jargon found this to be very disturbing. This goes right back to definitions again. Under the banner of "inclusiveness" the fixed statements of scripture are being re-interpreted and applied, cleverly twisted and turned back on the heads of those who hold to Gods word as unchanging.

Think it goes beyond just the issue of homosexuality, there are plenty of other sins that don't generate as much discussion as they should and to just single this one out in particular is to miss the point of the whole...

And that is the undermining of Gods word, re-defining it and re-creating it into our own image, of what it says and what God meant when He said it. That a large amount of people are being told that 'God still speaks' is not paramount to the thought that He has changed His mind or His word, and that it seems is the greater sin, the assumption that we know better than He.

This is truly grievous.

When I see things I like this, I wonder what can prevent wide-spread Christian apostasy in this country. (Maybe the question is belatedly naive...) This forked-tongue commercial advocates open rebellion and unrepentance under the call for "inclusiveness". By invoking the name of Jesus at the fade out, UCC portrays that God condones homosexuality. From a societal viewpoint it is a great travesty that the gay/lesbian lobby has grafted itself so successfully to the civil rights movement.

I can only imagine from Gods' viewpoint how this seems. Lord, convict us, forgive us and have mercy on our children.

A sobering quote from Jonathan Edwards....

"Everyone hopes for heaven, but if everyone that hoped for heaven ever got there, heaven by this time wouyld be full of murderers, adulterers, common swearers, drunkards, thieves, robbers, licentious debauchers. It would have been full of all manner of wickedness and wicked men such as the earth abounds with at this day. There would have been those who are no better than wild beasts, howling wolves, and poisonous serpents; yea, devils incarnate as Judas was."

Great quote brother and sadly true. This disturbing trend of elevating creature thought's and rationality to be above God's thought...

That we may pick and choose and contort anyway we choose to fit our own belief systems...
