I was at our local christian bookstore today (Family Christian Stores) and saw a new Andrew Murray Devotional was out...but it is co-authored or put together by Bruce Wilkinson (Prayer of Jabez in case some don't know--hee hee, who doesn't know :)Anyway this particular devotional has only been available through the years in Africa (so it says). But I was just a little bewildered.Of course I am thinking if Wilkinsin changed any of the writing, etc... because it is rewritten for todays reader. I really thought about getting it- and i still might. I'll have to take some time to read some it in the store (didn't have the time today). This is an editorial review:In his time, Andrew Murray was alarmed by how few believers lived wholeheartedly for God and truly displayed to the world the abundant life promised by Jesus Christ. More than a century later, Christians are still living powerless, impoverished spiritual lives, and a media-savvy world dismisses the church as irrelevant. One of the most powerful voices of the nineteenth century, Murray speaks to today's church from across the years, exhorting us to begin each day by seeking the living God, giving Him time every morning to reveal Himself anew. For this stunning new devotional, contemporary bestselling author Bruce Wilkinson presents 365 gems from the treasury of writings by Andrew Murray. Wilkinson introduces each month's readings with an overview of the thematic approach for the coming devotions. Each month features the very best of Murray's work centering on a different aspect of cultivating a deeper and richer spiritual life.I did see where Wilkinson traveled to Africa to see where Murray worked, etc... because he had an interest in him and his life. hmmmmm.Any thoughts?O, also saw this new biography of Rick Warren:"A Life with Purpose: Reverend Rick Warren, the Most Inspiring Pastor of Our Time"- "The Story of the Man behind Purpose-Driven Life" by George Mairhmmmmm, again :)In Him, Chanin

Andrew Murray is one of my favorite Christian writers, his works are bright, burning signposts on the journey to fullness in Jesus Christ.I believe that with Mr. Wilkinson's popularity (due to Jabez), this devotional could put the writings of Mr. Murray into the hands of a much wider audience than might otherwise occur, and I believe that's a good thing.Of course, exactly what "rewritten for today's reader" means is of some concern. I find Mr. Murray's reads quite easily just as he is and would hate to see some hard truths "smoothed over".But overall, if the devotional includes items from books such as Absolute Surrender, Humility, and Waiting on God, just to name a few,it should be very good.In Christ,Ron
