Re: 15 Year Prison Sentence For Converting to Christianity

I can appreciate those believers who follow Jesus and lay down tbeir lives for him. Even in Egypt. Whereas the report is disturbing. The mother's conversion is another question. If the report is correct. It said the mother converted to Islam after marrying a Moslem man. Then after she was widowed sh wanted to convert back to Christianity to obtain an inheritance for her family. I would not call this an encounter with the living God. Where she repents and turns to Christ for forgiveness of sins. And suffers for that decision.

Chances are tbis mother was raised Egyptian Coptic and wants to return to that religion. Yes, the punishment is harsh and signals persrcution for believers in Egypt. But let us distinguish between those believers who carry the cross of Christ in their hearts. Those who have been truly converted by Christ. Many of these are MBB's, Muslim Background Believers. And the Coptic Orthodox Christians. These are the cultural Christians of Egypt who have a form of religion. But no power of the Spirit.

Yes, the mother does need our prayers. That she come to the living Christ.

Bearnaster.

 Re:

Hi Bearmaster,
Its a good point Bearmaster but it doesn't matter whether shes a true believer or not as regards to how she is being treated. In the worlds eyes she is a "Christian".
The point is not about whether we should pray for her but that this is how a muslem country (that is supported by the west)is treating Christians whether they are real or not.
