Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight. Psalm 19.14. The heart is the principal problem. Whether or not the outward words are correct is not the central issue, nor is it the correctness of outward attitude. The real problem lies in the intent of the heart. The thought and intent of the heart is the issue that must not be neglected. For this reason, David prays to have the meditation of his heart acceptable to God as much as to have the words of his mouth acceptable. His prayer is for Gods acceptance of his inward desire. Hence Paul testifies that David is a man after Gods heart (Acts 13).What kind of man is a man after Gods own heart? It is the one who allows God to touch his heart. If a person will not allow Him to touch his heart, he can hardly be a man of Gods own heart.
