God is sovereign, yet even our stupid choices will bring to pass His purposes!

God is sovereign, yet He does not force His will on us. He sets before us a choice...do we want Him? Do we want His ways? Do we want life? He always sets before us a choice, life or death. He wants us and asks us to choose life but never forces us to choose it. Men, from the darkness of their hearts, will usually choose death. That is simply what happened yesterday. 50% of America chose "death". When Israel craved Saul to be their leader, God did not force them to choose someone else, but allowed them to make that stupid choice and then warned them of the outcome. They still wanted Saul anyway and the rest is a very sad history reading that has been repeated down through the ages. God always wants us to choose leaders who are "after His own heart" but when a nation rejects God and His righteousness and chooses a wicked and evil ruler, it ironically brings judgement upon itself in the form of that leader and his minions. And the Lord...what does He do through all of this? Well, He lets it play out to the fullest extent. Perhaps in His mercy if enough righteous people cry out to Him, He will intercede, but in our own case, the righteous are not yet desperate enough, we still have it too easy. Give it time though, and when things really "hit the fan", we will witness true prayer, true intercession and a revival of unprecedented proportions will sweep this land. It will get much darker before that Light breaks forth though. Yes, God is sovereign and one day soon, men will really begin to call upon the Lord again, and I am excited for what God will do again in this nation!
