The book, "The Awakening," by Friedrick Zuendel is a study of a revival that took place in Germany in the 1840s through pastor Johann Blumhardt. The book is in three parts, dealing, first of all, with a remarkable case of exorcism; then with the revival that followed; and, finally, with the healings that sunsequently took place. Pastor Blumhardt did not expect any of these things to take place, but was such a genuinely spiritual and biblical man that he took them in stride and sought to be guided by nothing but scriptures in his conduct and response. The story is an amazing one, and is filled with lessons for today's church--particularly for those among us who crave revival in our day.The story of the exorcism is quite frankly frightening; what is more important is the account of the revival that followed. The book is available free online here: http://www.plough.com/ebooks/index.htmland a more detailed and graphic description of the exorcism can be found here: http://o4u2cm.blogspot.com/2005/05/blumhardts-battle.html
