Strong in Opinion but Weak in Faith

Strong in opinion, weak in faith
what kind of saint will make?
Powerful theories all put on hold
fearing that step to take
Privately eloquent, personally rich,
but publicly still reserved
Feeling restricted from envisioned foe
resisting the needed word

Spiritual insight, full and rich,
received from the Lord above
But stifled by someone else’s place
holding back this great love
If only there were true freedom here
is the thought of the mind
But forces entrenched from long ago
prevent freedom of this kind

One wonders how such a rich insight
exists with such little faith
With such a big God to stand behind
the man who on Him does wait
But giants are big and cities strong
that stand in the way I see
When knowing the way that all should go
without faith for it to be

So hands will hang down, and knees will fail
despite such clear insight grand
While giants empose their own wrong ways
are living within the land
If God would remove the obstacles
Oh how grand this new life could be
But theories so rich, potential so great
must wait till faith’s formed in me

If my God to set His people free
plucked them from Pharaoh's hand
And drove out the nations great and strong
to give to His own their land
Then how can this God, the same today
Not do the same for me
If I have the same true faith in Him
to match what I claim to see

Re: Strong in Opinion but Weak in Faith

adelphos,

I have had similar thoughts and the prayer of my heart has been to walk out that which God has given me light on and so my thoughts about this has led me to study today.

I hope that you will find some encouragement in my personal study, as I have been encouraged by your honesty.

His mercy is incredible.

I am reminded that satan had great knowledge but did not walk in the knowledge.

1 John 2:6
"He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked."

and

"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."

(1 Co.8;1)
(Eph.3:18)
(Phil 1:9)
(rom 8:29)

2 Peter 1:2
"Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the *knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord*, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the *knowledge of Him* who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."

"But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to *knowledge* self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

“Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. Mark 8:34

Romans 12 says that we are to be a living sacrifice and that we are conformed by the renewing of our minds (which comes from the knowledge of God)

I read that knowledge must always accompany the love of God.
They are always together in these passages.

So... To be offer myself as a sacrifice I believe, is to take up my cross... and to take up my cross is to deny my own will(which is following in Jesus' footsteps) and allow the knowledge that God gives me to be put into my daily walk and talk and plant it deep in my heart, rooting out everything that I become aware of that is displeasing to God.
In this way, I will be a vessel of honor *that the Lord has filled with His love and ready for His purpose.

James 1:21-23
Ps. 138:8
Ps 119:44-46

Re: Strong in Opinion but Weak in Faith

Perhaps I read into your poem wrong.
Truly, when I read these words I think I could have written them from my own heart.

I can speak from my own life that God has given me light on many things. I can see error and discern spirits in a place and have had much zeal for the Lord and yet I have not found any willing to listen or where I am to be in a ministry and have sometimes wondered why God reveals things to me if I am not to speak them.

This troubled me for quite a while but I have come to know that before I can move out in any place, I must start with myself. God is building me up in the faith.
He is building a house, but also He perfects every stone- and a stone is what I am.

Continue perfecting the small things and God will give you the increase of faith as you receive from His throne of grace He will always give you grace for the day to do what He is asking you to do for that day.

I think this poem describes the Apostle Peter to the T before Pentecost. Are we like this? If so, why?
