Billy Graham Offers His Support to Chick-fil-A

July 26, 2012 - MONTREAT, N.C.— The following statement was issued today by Billy Graham:

"I want to express my support for my good friends Truett Cathy and his son Dan Cathy, and for their strong stand for the Christian faith. I've known their family for many years and have watched them grow Chick-fil-A into one of the best businesses in America while never compromising their values. Chick-fil-A serves each of its customers with excellence, and treats everyone like a neighbor. It's easy to see why Chick-fil-A has become so popular across America.

Each generation faces different issues and challenges, but our standard must always be measured by God's word. I appreciate the Cathy family's public support for God's definition of marriage.

I also appreciate Governor Mike Huckabee's leadership and for encouraging Americans to support Chick-fil-A on August 1. As the son of a dairy farmer who milked many a cow, I plan to "Eat Mor Chikin" and show my support by visiting Chick-fil-A next Wednesday.

Billy Graham is a strong advocate for the biblical definition of marriage and recently stated his public support for the marriage amendment in his home state of North Carolina, which voters resoundingly passed on May 8.

Re: Billy Graham Offers His Support to Chick-fil-A

It's about time some "big name" preacher actually stands up and supports someone / something in this country.

The Wisconsin pastor who preaches the the bible in regards to spanking and is going to prison for 2 years?? - Where in the name of God are the godly men in this land to stand up for God's Holy Word and righteousness?

I will tell you where they are - they are off running scared.

These men are like the Pharisees in that they love the applause of men (from varying "christian circles"), yet they are NOT doing the will of God with where God (or maybe it's just Satan) has put them.

John MacArthur and his "Grace To You" with their "unleashing the Bible one verse at time" - where he is now to say something about a pastor being incarcerated - INCARCERATED - for two years because he preached that parents must discipline their children with the rod?

All these "guys" like John Piper, Mark Driscoll, Together For The Gospel Coalitions, all the radio boys Hank Hanegraf, Chuck Misler, Dobson, Charles Stanley - all these men with the esteem and platforms (sermons, twitter, etc) - WHERE ARE THEY TO STAND FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS - they are SILENT on basically everything happening in our nation.

Where are they to stand beside the "no-name" Christians in this country who are being persecuted for following Jesus? (notice how it is none of the "big name" preachers who have the legal issues, or the persecutions from the world)

I believe most of them are bare minimum cowards, and many are lost men according to 2 Corinthians 11:13-15:

13For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.

14No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

15Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

ps - my name on here "righteousnew" was supposed to be "righteousnews" and was shortened. I am a sinner saved by grace who knows what I was, and even more who I am - a wicked sinner apart from the shed blood of our risen Christ.

 Re:

RighteousNew,
You make some very rash statements in your post. Many of the pastors you listed I believe are indeed men of God. To say that they are cowards, lost men, and pharisees is like hitting below the belt. John Piper has many articles on his DG website giving his stance on gay marriage and persecution. I would admonish you to pray before posting such content on this website. In love,
