food for thought Jonah 1:4-15 and Matt 8:24-27

Grace and peace to you all in the LORD Jesus greetings,I was reading Jonah 1 and couldn't help but wonder if there was some kind of parallel to the passage in Matt 8:4-15 although I know there are differences in the situation's there is some similarities between the two that are almost identical I would love to hear some opinions concerning this thank you praise be to the king of all kings concerning you saints may the LORD bless you

Re: food for thought Jonah 1:4-15 and Matt 8:24-27

Thanks for this post; these are my favourite studies, comparing one passage with another, especially OT with NT, or man with Jesus.

A few thoughts. The Matthew passage certainly brings out the supremacy of Jesus. Jesus sleeps in the boat because He rests always in His Father.Jonah sleeps as part of his attempts to get away from God.

Jonah had to be thrown overboard, to die, for the storm to cease.
Jesus, the Eternal Son, slain from the foundation of the earth, already had all authority over the storm.
Verse 26 "then He arose and rebukes the wind etc" is literally "then He, HAVING RISEN, rebukes ...".

What manner of man this is..

David
