Ecclesiastes 12/12
Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.

Calvin, Luther, Zwingly, Owen, Hodge, Haldane, Baxter, Flavel, Spruill, Berhoff, Agustine, etc. Could it be only one book is needed? The one Jesus wrote?

Acts 8 29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. 30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

Those books you list are guides. When I have the luxury of time and desire to study deeper than my own understanding can reach I am grateful to have "some man" to guide me. Not one of those 'study' books can hold a candle to God's Holy Word but if the light they do give can illuminate a message that is hidden to my feeble understanding I believe they are a gift from God.
