| fallen from grace | | Is there any help for someone fallen from grace?
I've measured harshly. I've abused grace. What does a person do who has been under law for years?
I've read the Word several times. But there is legalism. It pushes people away. The devil has a field day with me. |

Yes there is help. Christ waits to welcome back those who have been in the pig pen eating pig food. But He will only accept those who are truly penitent not those who are just sorry for themselves for the mess they are in.
The first step is to make the decision to believe what He says in the Bible and not what Satan whispers.
To be healed from backsliding take time and is a struggle but you will make it if you are sincere and truly want to find rest for your soul and stop crucifying Christ anew.
The main reason why we fall is because we do not understand the full gospel and the reason for suffering. It is your sin not God which has caused the fall. God is good and true and the devil is a liar. |

Brother if there wasn't I wouldn't be alive today, it can be found in Christ Jesus alone and a relationship with Him. Identify with His death as your own and get rid of your selfish ambition and seek Christ's ambition, to do the will of the Father.
Seek God and He will be found.

| Re: fallen from grace | | I guess the brother who posted here, wanted a hope out of legalism and not just sin. We all know Jesus can save us from Sin because it is the very first promise in new testament. Legalism is very common among believers and even among great preachers. This does not make Legalism acceptable. You can come out of Legalism if God reveals you the true meaning of law, 'the spirit behind the law'. God revealed it to Jesus and that is why Jesus healed on sabbath. Jesus knew the true meaning of Sabbath which is to do God's work. Like this there are so many laws which Jesus broke like not stoning an adulterous women etc. Still Jesus considered himself as a person who came to strengthen the law by saying even lusting on a women is a Sin. God loves you and me like how he loved Jesus, if he revealed the true meaning of Law to Jesus then he will also reveal it to you. Once you understand the spirit behind law you will judge no one by what you hear or see. Please pray for this spirit.

"The main reason why we fall is because we do not understand the full gospel and the reason for suffering.
Can you explain this more. What is the full gospel, and what is the reason for suffering?
"The first step is to make the decision to believe what He says in the Bible and not what Satan whispers."
Do you mean by this: that my sins are forgiven? can you explain?
"But He will only accept those who are truly penitent not those who are just sorry for themselves for the mess they are in."
I don't know how to be truly penitent. I feel closer to this when I fast, but I never fast for long because I get tempted to eat.
"To be healed from backsliding take time and is a struggle but you will make it if you are sincere and truly want to find rest for your soul and stop crucifying Christ anew."
I need to weep over my sin but my heart is hard. I think someone prayed for me last night and it helped.

| Re: | | Hello NoahJD,
You sound like where I was not more than 6 months ago. I wanted so much to weep for my sin and yet I had a hardness of heart. I only had a mental determination, but the Lord has revealed himself afresh to me, even from such a state.
I started reading the bible morning and evening and praying also, spending quiet time with the Lord Jesus. Over time I read Johns Gospel and the New Testament. During this time He revealed more and more his love for me and, crucially, even after my backsliding, his blood cleanses me of my sin, and I need not bother with my righteousness, instead I accept Jesus rightousness and it is acceptable to God the father. During this time I've been delivered from a major sin problem in my life, and it wasn't through weeping (although I wanted too), it was through accepting that its been done on calvary. Sometimes steely determination is involved, but it is through His rightouness, and me accepting whats been done.
I can only tell you of my own experience. Legalistically many Christians would write me off as "no chance", and some do due to my circumstance. The Lord has not and neither has some good Christians I know.
Praying for you. That the Lord will reveal to you His grace.

Many fall into backsliding because they do not go on to perfection, which means appropriating the power of God to enable them to live the Christian life and the failures they experience lead them to grow cold towards God. The cure is to learn how to reckon the old man is dead and to have faith that it can keep us from sin and therefore have the love of God shed abroad in our hearts and know His blessed presence again. When the trials come ie suffering many lose heart but it is necessary for our souls.
Your sins were forgiven when you first came to Christ but the spiritual death you are experiencing are again because you did not go on to perfection and slid away.
Thank God that you see your hard heart, you are indeed in a serious condition and must be diligent. |

| Full Assurance of Salvation | | Kindly read Brother Ironside's article on how you can KNOW you are assured salvation.
http://www.plymouthbrethren.org/article/6447
Chapter One: Difficulties Which Hinder Full Assurance It is now my purpose to consider some of the difficulties and perplexities which keep souls from entering into peace and enjoying the full assurance of salvation. These questions and objections are some that have come to me again and again from earnest seekers after light, and are therefore, I have good reason to believe, fairly representative of the troublesome thoughts that hinder many from seeing the simplicity of Gods way of life, as set forth in His holy Word. Perhaps if my reader has not a settled rest of heart and conscience, he may find his own peculiar trouble dealt with here....

| Re: fallen from grace | | Many scriptures to encourage you Noah. Read through Colossians and see Gospel = Man was created with three parts or natures or what have you in the garden of Eden. A body, a soul, and a spirit. We were created to fellowship with God, enjoy Him, and obey Him, serve Him. Adam and Eve were tested (shall not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil) and fell. The day they rebelled they died spiritually, their spirits died and ever since mankind has been stillborn spiritually. They also died physically later as we all do.
Jesus said that if we believe or trust in Him we are born again, that is our Spirit is regenerated and we can enjoy the purpose for which mankind was created as mentioned above. We believe that He is the only way to the Father. His death payed for our sin and He was resurrected because He was accepteable to the Father as He was without sin.
When we are born again we now have our spirit which can fellowship with God and know Him, we have our soul which is our mind and feelings and we have our body. The flesh or carnal soul in us which has desires and is still selfish can still override our spirit if we let it. We also have the blessing of His Holy Spirit in us, working in us to change us and counsel us.
Paul said walk by the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Walk in the influence of the Holy Spirit, not in the influence of your lusts and desires.
We all struggle with sin in our lives, our flesh must be put to death daily by denying it and feeding the spirit with the Word of God. I have periods of success and have slipped back at other times into a worldly lifestyle. God has kept me through it all. He is faithful!
Get into the word of God and prayer and fellowship with other believers especially. Be real with them. Confess your sins to God and He promises that "If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrightesouness."
Hope that helps
Lloyd
edit: forgot period at end of first line. Gospel not spelled out so much in Colossians as such, but Colossians great book. As ye have therefore received Christ, Jesus the Lord (by faith), so walk ye in Him. |
