Walking and Praying in the Spirit

"Paul said, 'Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh' (Gal. 5:16). The context here doubtlessly suggests the realm of obedience to the Holy Spirit. To walk in the Spirit is to walk under his control, according to his nature, fulfilling his desires. The opposite of this is 'walking in the flesh.' This does not necessarily mean walking in immorality. The flesh refers to what a man is apart from the divine nature. To walk in the flesh is to walk in oneself, his own nature, his own desires, fulfilling the natural desires of the body and the soul.

Later on, Paul said, 'If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit' (Gal. 5:25). Again, it is clear that the implication is the same, that is, walking in accord with the life-style of the Spirit of God. We were reminded earlier that 'They that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts' (Gal. 5:24). That is to be kept in mind (and kept current) as the Spirit would lead us to prayer. The prayer place is no place for the bearing of fleshly interests. When the flesh takes over, prayer leaves! There may be prayers said, but there is no vital praying apart from the Holy Spirit presiding to bring to bear in our praying the Father's own desires.

God is the source of all true prayer. Praying to God in the Spirit is praying to God under God's control."

Thank you brother for sharing this.
Amen to all!

“To walk in the Spirit is to walk under his control, according to his nature, fulfilling his desires.”

 Re:

I liked the original post of walking and praying in the Spirit. Where did the two follow up post come from before Enid? I plead
the blood of Jesus Christ over this thread.
