...for the bible tells him to.

I was just fellow-shipping with a brother whom I love greatly, we don't get to see each other often because we live an hour apart.

He was telling me some of the things he has been going through theologically in his growth, and was emphasizing to me how much Jesus loved sinners, and showed that love to them. He was telling me about a lesbian that he has worked with for a few years now who originally hated him when they met because to her Christians are the kind of people who hold signs outside their churches saying homosexuality is wrong, and God hates them etc. My friend felt that God had called him to just show and exemplify Christ love to her all the time, treating her with the dignity due to all humans. At one point she broke down and sang a little ditty out loud to him after a year and a half or so of working together. "(insert friends name here) loves me, this I know, for his bible tells him too."

Re: ...for the bible tells him to.

There is not enough info in the re-telling of the singing the song to give a clear picture of the spirit of the singing. Mocking? I keep thinking of 'Don't cast your pearls before swine.'

With a man approaching a lesbian woman, in her addled state of mind she may misinterpret his motives. Does he mean he has 'worked with her for a few years' in an office type environment, or in a social setting?

She will not hate him only for being a Christian but, also, for having been born a man while she was not.

Just my thoughts. I am glad you had an opportunity to get together with him.

 Re:

No, the impetus was that she was acknowledging, after having hated him, that she could not deny how loving he had been. She now no longer hates him for being a Christian and lets him share truth with her more frequently.
