Does anyone know if this is the best translation of this Hymn? This was sung, in Norwegian, at my fellowship and had a powerful effect, even without the translation to meditate on.
I am particulary interested in checking the translation of "purest names of human lips is laid" and "take me to the last in your glory" ALSO I wonder if the references to BEND ME shows an historic influence of the revival heart-cry (was the author in that revival?).
Norwegian Hymn, Jesus, det Eneste (Jesus, the Only One)
Jesus, the only one,
holiest, purest
names of human lips is laid!
Fullness of glory,
fullness of love,
fullness of grace and truth and power!
Afflictions meet me - never do they run me away from your sacred, powerful arms.
People forget me,
O Lord, hide me
into your heart and mention my name.
Lord, hear me;
Lord, lead me
how and wherever it serves me best!
Give me to bend me,
Teach me to add to me
according to your will, while here I am guest!
You're the only one,
holiest, purest,
give me your pure and holy heart!
Save me from the snares,
deliver me from the dangers,
take me to the last in your glory!
