 A Christmas idea...

Hello brothers and sisters...

Each year, I like to burn audio CDs (not a data CD -- but one that can be played in a car or CD player) of various messages found here at SermonIndex. Next, I take those burned CDs, make an appropriate label (including the name of the message and web address of SermonIndex), place them in a new CD case and either mail them or take them personally to pastors and workers of various churches in the area that I live.

Typically, I prayerfully choose some of the most impacting messages found here at SermonIndex. Using my computer's CD burner, I record messages like TEN SHEKELS AND A SHIRT by Paris Reidhead or HOLY GROUND by David Wilkerson and a number of messages by Leonard Ravenhill. I add the link to the label and CD case...hoping that it will help other pastors and Christian workers discover the plethora of wonderful messages found here.

Let me encourage you to do the same! I met a pastor once who had been raised in a traditional denomination. He had graduated from seminary and attended conferences -- but he didn't realize what was missing in his life and messages until after discovering material like this.

If any of these messages have had an impact in your life, then help spread it! A blank CD can cost less than 10 cents when purchased in bulk...and another 10 cents for the case. A spool of blank CD-Rs has the potential to reach 50-100 pastors who desperately need to hear such impacting messages!

Please consider making the most of this season. People give away such fleeting gifts. This is a great opportunity to look up the pastors in your town or city (via the Yellow Pages, phone book or internet directory) and introduce pastors to something that might impact the direction of their life.

I remember hearing David Wilkerson speak about how Leonard Ravenhill had impacted his life. Brother Ravenhill had given Brother Wilkerson a copy of A CHRISTIAN IN COMPLETE ARMOUR by William Gurnall. At the time, David Wilkerson was riding his bus from arena to arena and church building to church building. One day in that bus, he picked up that book...and fell onto his knees after reading just a handful of pages. He realized that Gurnall -- a relatively unknown Puritan-era preacher who had been dead for 400 years -- had taught him more in 12 pages than he had learned in his entire life.

I believe that many of these messages found at SermonIndex can have a similar impact on many others. Would you consider targeting the pastors and Christian workers in your area by recording CDs with these messages? I do suggest that you burn the messages as "audio CD" format, list the speaker's name on the CD label and/or CD case and include the internet address of this website (so they can find even more).

The Lord bless you mightily!!!

*I hope that this doesn't get into a discussion about whether or not Christians can celebrate Christmas.

 Re:

By the way, does anyone have a suggestion for sermons that could impact local pastors?

If you could make two sermons for pastors that you have never met -- which ones would they be?

Thanks in advance!

If you (or anyone else) can remember the name of that message, I would greatly appreciate it!

 Re:

I found it!

More Than Conquerors by Leonard Ravenhill

part 1

part 2

The phrase was worded much simpler than the way that my memory reminded me, but still, very powerful. I just listened to this again last night, and I have to say, in my opinion, that it's one of the best I've heard him preach. Highly recommended for any pastor (or anyone, for that matter).

Not a sermon but a very good one I believe especially for pastors that do not feel the joy of the Lord.

 Re:

Great idea Chris!

Am seriously considering this myself. Half a spindle here just wasting away :). Concur with all the sermon suggestions; would possible add "A Call to Anguish" by David Wilkerson and "Modern American Christianity" aka shocking youth message by Paul Washer

 Re:

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I am hoping that God will use these messages to stir something in the hearts of pastors and Christians workers in the area that I live.

Please keep this project in your prayers!
