 divorce and remarriage

Hi there, i was wanting anyone's opinion on a woman i know who divorced her husband because she felt he deceived her not by adultery but other things-now she wants to remarry after 3 months a pastor who could lose his credentials--they are trying to get her marriage annulled to keep his credentials and hers as well and also to remarry--i think it is foolishness but would love other opinions --thank you

You thought right. Also, any pastor who would marry a woman in such a situation not only deserves to have his credentials stripped, but has no business continuing in that calling. The fact that he would even try to work through it is probably a good indicator that he's in no shape to be in such a position.

It probably is a good idea to skip over stuff that Jesus strictly forbids like believers getting divorced and remarried. It doesn't teach very well.

You're right, it is sad. But the sadder thing is that she'll probably just go ahead and do it, unless the Holy Spirit intervenes on her behalf. There's a deeper heart issue at play though. This divorce and remarriage is only scratching the surface.

I would just show her the Scriptures and voice your concern in love, and really pray that the Holy Spirit would convict not only her, but the guy involved as well. Aside from prayer, that's really all you can do.
