 what is dead?

In Christ Dead means Dead!

DEAD TO SIN

Romans 6:2 - God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 6:11 - Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

DEAD TO LAW

Romans 7:1 - Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

Romans 7:4 - Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God

DEAD TO THE WORLD

Galatians 6:14 - But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world

1st John 5:4 - For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

DEAD TO SELF

Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Colossians 3:3 - For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God

DEAD TO THE DEVIL

Colossians 2:14-15 - Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

1st John 3:8 - He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil

Hebrews 2:14 - Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil

 Re: what is dead?

YES - 100% COMPLETELY DEAD.

The problem is that most of us do not really know it or really believe it.

 Re: Dead and soon gone...

Dead to sin!
Alive in Christ!
that the glorious Gospel Of Christ is Revealed to the World!

Not by myself (which would be dead works), but Christ Jesus that lives in me.

It's not a mental knowledge. It's an experience that takes over the whole man. Sin is no longer an issue for the man that is dead to sin and alive unto God.

Such men are vessels of power. No man can just mingle amongst other people and not effect anyone. As soon as you open your mouth, all hell is waiting to condemn it.

Everyone who says that they are dead should take an inventory of their lives and to see how they are affecting those around them.

Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him

Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

 Re: what is dead?

Praise God for His grace that teaches us that denying worldly lusts we should live righteously and holy in this world. We are to reckon ourselves dead indeed to sin and alive unto God, but it is through awakening to righteousness and sinning not, through the empowerment of the grace of God that we can truly die.
