Anyone in Detroit? Looking for a church...

Greetings, are there any brothers in the Detroit area that can recommended a New Covenant church (yes I know that is double speak but you know what I mean).

I did a search for the keyword 'Detroit' and the latest thread that I could find was from 2006 :-).

I've been a lurker for the last 8 months or so but thought that I'd introduce myself. My family and I are looking for a church home (without much luck) and in my frustration I thought that I would ask for your help.

We're tired of the machine, hyper-prosperity garbage and looking for some like minded believers who believe in:

-The Lordship of Jesus Christ and being a mirror of Him
-The gifts of the Spirit without flakiness
-People who place a higher value on the fruit of the Spirit rather than the gifts of the Spirit.
-Freedom from sin
-Fellowship and praying
-The joy of the Lord and freedom from legalism
-Brokenness

We have been churchless for the last 8 months, and I miss the body terribly.

Please, take this in the spirit that was written brothers and sisters. :-)

In Christ,
Earl J

How about Revival Tabernacle? Here's the church website:

Hi Earl -

I attend Calvary Chapel Oakland County, in Troy, at Long Lake and John R. http://ccoaklandcounty.com/

I've been popping in now and then for years, and recently started attending full time. It is a solid Bible Church, but I haven't really gotten to know the people yet and don't know if the gifts of the Spirit are in evidence. They meet the criteria you listed, as far as I can tell.

I have never been to Revival Tabernacle, but if the senior pastor is friends with Dave Wilkerson, he can't be all bad!

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

 Re:

Thank you both for your suggestions, I will look into both of them. If you happen to think of any others, please feel free to let me know!

Blessings,
