Theres a man of peace in every village, in every government, in every business, in every church. ... When you find the man of peace, if hes open and hes willing to work with you, you bless him and you start your work there. ... The man of peace is open and influential. ... The man of peace does not have to be a Christian believer. Could be a Muslim. Could be Jewish (Warren interview with Charlie Rose, Aug. 17, 2006). (Speaking of Matthew and Luke 10 when the apostles were sent out to preach. _________________ Mike Wright

He stressed that working together does not mean that participants need to compromise their convictions. Muslims and Christians can "walk hand and hand and not see eye to eye" and be "unified without uniformity."
Why does this bother people? Are we not commanded to live with all men peaceably? Should we always be contentious with our nieghbour?
Romans 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: |

| Re: | | Yes it does indeed say to live peaceably, but to work together in the sense of being missionaries? Would you endorse a Muslim missionary? Why would you want to let him spread lies? I do not question the good intentions of Rick Warren, but his methods need some revising. _________________ Mike Wright

| Re: | | I would not endorse a Muslim Missionary, but how do we deal with a Muslim Missionary? How would Christ speak to this man? How would Paul speak to this man?
Lets say he is our nieghbour and he has already made it clear that he is not interested in the gospel. How shall we get along?
I think it would be through our God given goodness. Being good to him, heaping coals of fire on his head. I think I would love him too, because it's by the goodness of God that leadeth men unto repentance.
I think this is the mindset of Rick Warren. There is no sense in cursing the Muslim. Lets all try to get along. We all know when the rubber meets the road that if that time comes when we have to pull away from that unification because it's now infringing on our faith, we'll have to with all reluctance to do so. I say reluctance because no wants to be enemies willingly. |

Here's another quote I found.
I have to ask WHERE you found this...and why.
Did you find it at one of those "watchman" websites that are all about discrediting ministers and doctrines that the people who own those sites feel are incorrect? Are you LOOKING for such damaging information for a predetermined reason?
First of all, not every "interview" is accurate. Someone claimed a quote previously here at SermonIndex regarding Rick Warren. When I looked up that exact quote via Google, it only linked to conspiracy theory websites that utter conspiracies and rumors. I included one link of the statement in an email to the Church where Warren serves, and the response was that they had never seen the quote before.
Still, even if a quote is credible, we need to look in its exact context. Otherwise, we are guilty of what off-the-wall sects and radical groups do with the Gospel -- by cutting and pasting together "quotes" from the Word of God for a predetermined end.
Again, I am not "defending" Rick Warren. I am simply stating that IF we are going to entertain such accusations or spread them -- then we need to get it right and do so as accurately as possible. It is not enough to quote what others have "found" and list in books, magazines or conspiracy "watchmen" websites.
I still don't know why people get so bent out of shape by Rick Warren! Most of the people who spread such information don't listen to him, read his books or personally know many people who do. Yet they search the world over to convert others to their opinion! There are just so many other things to concern ourselves with! We can spend our time proclaiming TRUTH and not spend our years trying to strain out every LIE (or perceived lie)
Is Rick Warren saved? I HAVE NO IDEA!
However, I think that it is a stretch to "read between the lines" of circumstantial evidence that others have presented us and deduce that he wants a "one world religion" or is a "false prophet." So far, I see a guy who -- according to other examples of his writings -- believes that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.
Rick Warren might take his "let's all stop killing one another in the name of religious faith" a bit too far. However, even good Christians have a tendency of trying to expose those with whom they disagree on the smallest matters and declaring them to be "heretics." I am not talking allegations of "one world religion" -- but Christians will point the finger of heresy at others over issues as silly as whether we believe pre-trib or post-trib!
Still, there just seems to be better uses for the limited amount of time that God has given us here on the Earth. Doctrinal witch hunts seem to be ill-conducive ways of "redeeming the time for the days are evil."
I would suggest, however, that if you have a cause against Rick Warren, that you make every effort to make certain that you are ENTIRELY CORRECT -- including researching firsthand sources for yourself (and not relying on the research of others) AND contacting the man himself. Who knows? If the guy is truly in a fault, you may be used of God to "restore him gently." _________________ Christopher

| Re: | | Here's where I found the quote.
And I was mainly looking on insight into Rick Warren by reading his words without spending a bunch of money buying his books. So I figured he might reveal what he believes through interiviews.
Please keep in mind that I do not agree with everything on this site. I mainly use it for the anti-easy-believist bent of it.

Again, I do not agree with everything on this site. If this is where you found it then okay, I understand how some people can be a little over-opinionated on some things.
I'm done with my "witch hunt" hope you find what you want to know about him.
God richly bless you. _________________ Mike Wright

Why? To rub it in some peoples' faces here, or to prove a point? Or is it because you feel that Rick Warrens 40 days of purpose is really Spirit inspired, even though you've said you don't know much about the guy or his teaching in recent times past?
Just curious. |

LOL
Not at all Brother. I plan to do a 40 day fast in January, I plan to learn and know as to what purpose the Lord has put on my heart to do this. I am looking forward to it.
I am purpose driven. :-) |
