I culled these titles from another thread and did not think it appropriate to change the subject of that thread. Anonymous posted that he wondered why there are no teachings on this site regarding the following:"ALL of the Church FathersALL the Doctors of the ChurchSt. Isaac of Ninevah (the Syrian)St. John ClimacusSt. Maximos the ConfessorMore from St. Augustine, St. Ambrose, St. Irenaeus, St. Bede the Venerable, etc."That led to me to post this:I am probably the only one that thinks this, but let me ask anyway and see if you think it strange that for some reason people do not characterize the 12 Apostles as the "Doctors of the Church", or the "Church Fathers". Afterall, they were the ones inspired by the Holy Spirit to write the NT, (including Luke), and most if not all pretty much "signed it" with their blood. What is the reason these other men were given these venerable" titles and ascribed such import and today are known as "Fathers and Doctors of the Church"?
