DAVIDS 3 MIGHTY MEN There is a story in 2 Chronicles that the Lord has recently opened my eyes to about the 3 mighty men of David. They saw a barley field that the philistines controlled and everyone, all of Israel, ran from it and did not desire it enough to fight for it. But these three mighty men of David saw the value of the field and went and stood in the midst of it, determined to have it, whatever the price, and they risked their lives to fight for it. God saw their hearts and came and gave them a mighty deliverance from the philistines and gave them the barley field they desired. That barley field represents our salvation and our status as over-comers in a world of Christians that are content to keep the status quo. You have to see the value of the barley field before you will be willing to lay down your life to fight for it and before God will come and fight along side of you to give it to you. All these things that happened in the Old Testament are for our examples in the New. They are for our fight today against the "philistines" (powers of darkness and enemies of our souls). The promise land for us today that we have to fight for and conquer and drive out the enemy from is our souls. The enemy has taken up residence in our souls and God has come to reclaim our souls for Himself but we have to fight with him for His place there. That is why he gives us the Holy Spirit within our spirits, so we can overcome and reclaim our souls with his guidance and help. We simply must, as these mighty men of David saw, see the value of the barley field and be willing to stand in the midst of it and fight for it and God will give it to us just as he did them. He showed me, this is where I am in my spiritual walk with Him. He has showed me the barley field and I am presently standing in the midst of it and He is fighting with me to have it. I am reclaiming the parts of my soul that the enemy has had strongholds in from birth. He also showed me that these three mighty men had counterparts in the New Testament. They were the three apostles whom Jesus took up into a high mountain and transfigured himself before them. They represent the over-comers, the ones chosen to sit with Him in His throne on High. There was: Peter, the apostle that taught us from his epistles, about faith and suffering the fiery trial to over-come and John, the beloved disciple, who taught us about LOVE and FAITH to over-come and James, the Lords brother, who taught us about our tongue and submission and obedience to Gods will with faith and works to over-come. These are the weapons of our warfare, the three things we need most to overcome the enemy of our souls and the things that will get God's attention to come and fight for and with us. I am praying for our complete deliverance for only in Deliverance can we finally find rest and peace. This kind of deliverance will not be an overnight thing. Too many years of oppression has been our lot. But the Lord will drive our enemies out little by little even as He did for the children of Israel, as we place our trust in Him and give Him our whole beings and continue to seek His Face, He will go before us in this war. This promise is for all who will seek Him and keep seeking Him. This is the narrow way not everyone will take. This is the answer to the many will seek to enter in but will not be able. Most do not want the effort that is needed for this kind of victory. They are just too lazy and love this world too much. One last scripture that has also been insightful is when David finally was able to take Jebus, the last, major stronghold of their enemies, when he finally took it, it was there he chose to live and set up camp forever and to increase in strength. Think of that, Right in the midst of what was once the mighty stronghold (Satans throne in your heart) God chooses to place His name the city of peace! God expects us to not only tear down this mighty stronghold but to live in it with Him, once it has been torn down. That stronghold is today Jerusalem. You can see how mightily the enemy will fight for all of time for that stronghold. What we see taking place today is also a mirror of what is taking place for the Jerusalem (the capital) of our souls. May we be valiant soldiers and fight to win to the finish!!! May we be among the few who will overcome and may we be found in the company of David's mighty men! _________________ Thalia
