Faithful are the wounds of a friend ; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. Proverbs 27:6The Lord is our friend and His Word is GOOD. Love speaks the truth and He tried to be the Pharisees friend by giving them what they really needed. TRUTH. Glad that Zac put all of this together. Jesus tried to lead the Pharisees out of darkness but they would not believe that they were in darkness (pride). His Word found no place in their hearts. They despised and rejected His Word and consequently they remained in darkness and went to hell unless later, unbeknownst to us, they did allow the Spirit of God to lead them out of darkness. God's Word and the Holy Spirit are always trying to lead us out of darkness in greater light, also. Humility on our part will make us "teachable" and "correctable". Otherwise, we will harden how hearts like a good Pharisee does.Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say , We see ; therefore your sin remaineth.John 9:41Lord, help us to cultivate a willing heart so that our obedience to your Word is from the heart, purify our hearts and lead us all out of Phariseeism. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: Isaiah 1:191 John 2:5 But whoso keepeth His Word, in him verily is the love of God perfected : hereby know we that we are in him.
Greg, I was rereading this list and wonder if there is a typo on #30? The statement seems to contradict the verse quoted...Here it is:30. A Pharisee strains our mosquitos and screens out camels.Read: Matthew 23:24 "You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.ginnyrose

Sister,Thank you for bringing this out. What the verse is meaning is they make a big deal of the small thing but ignore the larger thing like its nothing. "screens out camels" means it does not pay attention to it.So I see it consistent with the "idea" of the verse. We may not ignore the camels in our life!!!! nonetheless stop swallowing them :)!!
