Here's an email that Andrew Strom sent out to his email list on August 20th.

NOTE FROM ANDREW: Darren Smith runs a very effective ministry to the Homeless in Galveston, Texas. I have ministered alongside Darren in the USA, and believe he is a genuine man of God. Here is his latest report:-
STREET REVIVAL UPDATE - Aug 15, 2009 -by Darren Smith. The Fire from heaven is falling on Galveston Texas in the street. This morning the outpouring increased with signs and wonders. James, a man with severe blood clots in his legs, let us pray with him last week, came strolling up to tell me that he has been completely healed with the hospital backing him up. He went for treatment Tuesday and the clots were gone!! Three men we prayed for jobs with received jobs, a man named Joaquin asked last week to be set free from addiction said he had been clean for a week and was standing on Christ for the rest of his life, came back to testify of being set free.
Another Spanish man who we prayed for his sick baby came back to tell us the baby is healed, all to the glory of God. This morning after I brought the word many came forward asking for the Lord to release the anointing in their life and many went straight out into the highways and byways seeking souls right after the outreach. The Spirit was so strong, several men that were drunk when we prayed for them were instantly sober and began crying out for God. Many cops are coming by and seeing that God is working. We have even had some cops bringing addicts and prostitutes down to the outreach in their patrol cars. All heaven is breaking out!
It is our heart to spread this all over our nation. If we will take action, God is pouring out revival and bringing in the harvest. If you are willing to live with a reckless abandon of self, God will pour out the anointing to get the job done. Remember, God is not looking for your ability but your availability. There is nothing special about us, we are just willing.

"It's so ridiculous to seek revival. Your seeking a non-existent thing. "...paulmcg1.
Hebrews 11:1-3 (King James Version)
1] Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2] For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3] Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Of course revival is a non-existent thing, but to say it is ridiculous to seek it, is filled with unbelief as much as saying that God is dead.
The substance of heaven is a substance that does not appear to us, for it was framed by God speaking His word to establish it.
The bible says that God has NEVER forsaken ANY who seek after Him. Seeing that Jesus called himself the Life, then it is a ridiculous thing to seek after life?...or should we settle for death? Jesus commanded that we, as Christians, should FIRST seek the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and that "all of these things"...[ earthly provision ] "Shall be added unto you."
So I ask you, according to Jesus's command to seek His kingdom, and righteousness, and seeing that He is the Life, is that also "ridiculous?", for they are one and the same.
Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
Under the logic of your maxim, that it is ridiculous to seek revival,or God at all, for in your eye of faith, He is a non-existent thing; especially those whose reward is Himself...Life...for revival is nothing else but the Life of God manifest to mortal man.
The word REVIVAL has to do with reviving life again, from the Author and Creator of life, and is primarily bonded to the entire purpose of God Himself in His creation of the world and mankind, and the core of Jesus's awful death and resurrection into Heaven, the heart of Life.
We must have it, and always be turned toward it , to survive, and there is no true Christian that does not long for the living Presence of Life himself....Jahweh Jeshua! .. Jesus!
The church will descend into unbelief without it, and it is as water the soul of a thirsty church...that is for those who hunger and thirst after righteousness...which is revival...Restoration to holiness...Common union with our Creator....communion. This is revival, and the Bible commands us to SEEK, and to Knock, so that He will open the Gate unto himself, the God of Life! This is revival.
I noticed that you have some stars by your name. I wanted to remind you that I'm not the only one here that has such a ridiculous view that revival is to be sought after unto the Lord.
The last time I checked, this was a revival site, with millions and millions of visitors and hits. Did you somehow miss that?..you of course have your opinion, but it is the oddist statement that I have ever heard here from a member.
Faith believes that God is a rewarder of Himself, and yes...that includes revival, as it has always been so.

Paul, I would not disagree with you more. We desperately need a revival in America and seeking and praying for such a thing is one of the best things you can be doing for God's glory.
May God send a local touch of revival at the revival conference in Indiana: http://revival.sermonindex.net/events/2009indiana.html
Sadly there are very little touches of God in America in the last 50 years. But other parts of the world are experiencing very powerful moves of God. _________________ SI Moderator - Greg Gordon

| Re: 2009' Revival in America? | | A Revival is something that happens within the body of Christ.
A Great Awakening is what happens outside of the Church, with the lost.
Example of revival in the Church is in the book of Ezra.
Example of Awakening is with Peter in Acts and 3000 lost people got converted. Actually that was a revival that caused a great awakening. The saints first gathered together with ONE heart in the upper room. Another example of a great awakening is with Philip and Paul when preaching to the lost and many got converted.
Miracles is not a sign of a true Awakening. Jesus did many miracles and many people were drawn to His miracles, but they were not all converted. Many followed Jesus only because of the miracles. But, miracles was definitely a sign that His kingdom has drawn near.
I believe there will be a great pouring out just like in the days of Acts and many got revived and saved, but it will be in God's timing. But, we should have a desire to see His people revived and the lost won, but first, we must desire to see ourselves revive before we can cry out for others to be revive.
Revival in America? Christians are just too comfortable, spoiled, always needing their space, and puffed up with much knowledge ABOUT God which leads to being under the law (this I speak of true christians and not the apostate church). I believe there has to be a great persecution or disaster to wake up His Body to Their First love that will naturally cause them to walk in true discopleship with joy and not burdensome, with simplicity, and true love for the brethren that is not in doctrine, but it is through the cross.
Whatever it takes for God to be glorified in His body, let it be! For the glory of God. _________________ Lisa

This sad truth should not be taken to mean that God has favored the other parts of the world over the USA. Rather it is a reflection of how believers in different places differ in terms of their devotion and love of God, their hunger for His word, the depth of their faith, their willingness to give of themselves for others, their willingness to do His will, etc. If we are to be honest, we must admit that believers in the USA pale in comparison to those in many other parts of the world.
God is moving mightily through the church, the body of Christ. It is ironic that in this country, which fancies itself as a major center of the Christian faith, the body is not responsive to the Master.
Are we too afraid of being labelled "politically-incorrect", "superstitious extremists", "deluded idiots", "uneducated rednecks", etc. (as we can often see in blog sites)? Or are we simply too comfortable in our well-furnished suburban homes with the latest entertainment centers, electronic devices, the latest model cars, etc.? Could we be too busy with our impressive hobbies, cute pets, choir practice, sports events, and programmed "church" involvements that impress ourselves and our friends without really doing much to further God's kingdom?
We should all ask ourselves: Am I truly born again? If the answer is yes, where is the evidence of your changed life, and how does it make you different from your unbelieving neighbor?

| Re: 2009' Revival in America? | | In the entire New Testament, you never see the early church pray for revival. They were a "living revival" as they walked in accordance to the indwelling life of Christ...period. As a church we have everything we need in Jesus Christ.
Now I believe the 'revivals' we have seen throughout history have come as a result of an awakening to this reality of God within the man. It is possible to lose sight of this truth and to allow the flame to die, so as a result we need to be 'awakened' to the Lord within us.
What we need is not 'something' to fall from heaven, for if you are a blood-bought believer you have Christ within you, the hope of glory. It is He alone who causes awakenings to happen in and through the body, to then be spread through the world.
As Paul prayed for the church of Ephesus 'that your eyes may be enlightened' to all that we already have in Jesus Christ.

It depends on what radar one uses to detect signs of revival and what one expects revival to look like?
Remember, in our culture, an event is real only if it catches the media radar. But not all that seems real is real.
It is my belief that God is at work changing people, one here and one there. At least, that is what I am seeing. God has promised to build his Church. We can ask God to show us how to recognize his hand at work, and how to walk in harmony with his Spirit regarding these matters.
From that perspective, I think thingsabove is asking a great question!
Mattie puts it well!
