 Mark Cahill Interview

I was able to ask Mark Cahill, the author of One Thing You Can't Do In Heaven, some questions about himself, his book, and witnessing and wanted to share it.

Interview Questions:

1) What is it that brought about your conversion?

I went to college on a basketball scholarship. My god was basketball. I
loved it. Little did I know when I went to college that there were going to
be four guys who would witness to this pagan catholic kid. Two football
players at Auburn, one guy from FCA and the manager on the basketball. They
shared truth with me, and gave me a Bible. I began to realize my sin, and
the Holy Spirit of God drew me to Him a couple of years ago.

2) How were you first introduced to evangelism?

By reading my Bible. I kept reading about reaching the lost and the Spirit
of God just drilled me one day. Also when I found out that there is one
thing you cannot do in heaven that you can only do down here and that share
your faith with a non-believer.

3) Have you ever witnessed in Connecticut or anywhere in New England? If so
what was that like?
I have been up in NJ to do some witnessing and in New York. Some people
told me how dark it is up there. All I know is the darker it is, the easier
it is for your light to shine. We took some teenagers to Rutgers University
to witness and they did a phenomenal job!!

4) If you could tell every Christian one thing what would it be?

Do not live a life pleasing men, but live a life pleasing God. Period.
Reaching the lost pleases God.

5) What is the greatest lesson you have learned from all your witnessing
experiences?
That we as believers need to speak the truth in love. I find hungry people
every where that are looking for truth. When we share the ten commandments,
repentance, the cross, with them in love, they are very open to that.

6) What is your main motivation for sharing the gospel?

God commands us to. Hell is real. And people really go there today and
that should bother us as believers.

7) Which Christian leaders in History have had the largest influence upon
you and why?

I am a big fan of Charles Spurgeon. He is so passionate for the things of
God.

8) What was your main motivation for writting "One Thing You Can't Do In
Heaven"?

Two men of God threatened me in a nice way to write it! They said you have
too much teaching and too many stories that others need to hear to be
encouraged by them.

9) What is your favorite chapter of your book and why?

I love them all. I have gotten feedback on almost every chapter and even
the introduction that it has affected someone in some way.

10) What advice would you give someone who is going out to witness for the
very first time?

All boldness comes from the Lord. Pray for it. Satan will try to mess with
you. Don't forget that God is so much bigger than he is!

11) An entire chapter in your book is dedicated to using the Law of God in
out witnessing. How important is this?

If people don't understand their sin, they don't understand a Savior. If we
have little sin, we have a little Savior. If we have big sin to be cleansed
of, we have a big Savior.

12) Where can someone get a copy of your book?
It is in all the bookstores now. Amazon.com has it as well as
www.markcahill.org
