A message showing the measureless depth and evil of sin

WHAT IS THE TRUE EVIL OF SIN

The old puritan Thomas Boston stated once: “Learn the evil of sin.” Sin is rebellion against God. Sin is opposition to God. Webster’s Dictionary states ‘sin’ as: “Any voluntary transgression of the divine law, or violation of a divine command; a wicked act; iniquity. A man enormously wicked.” Never has society at large had a lower estimation of the great sinfulness of sin. The Apostle Paul did when he wrote: “that sin might be shown to be sin, and through the commandment might become sinful beyond measure.”

Why is it that people can become emotionally and morally indignant over poverty and exploitation and prejudice and the injustice of man against man and yet feel little or no remorse or indignation that God is so belittled? It’s because of sin. That is what sin is. Sin is esteeming and valuing and honoring and enjoying man and his creations above God. So even our man-centered anger at the hurt of sin is part of sin. God is marginal in human life. That is our sin! Our condition!”

A ETERNAL HELL WITHOUT END!

God's presence is infinite; His power is infinite; His nature is infinite; His existence is infinite; and so to sin against Him must be an infinite insult and wrong. Sin is an infinite evil. Sin is that abominable thing which He hates. He hates sin with infinite loathing. A very strong picture of sin is seen in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Horatius Bonar said this: “Oh, what a revelation! Man hating God--and hating most, when God is loving most! Man acting as a devil--and taking the devil's side against God! The cross, then, was the public declaration of man's hatred of God, man's rejection of His Son, and man's avowal of his belief that he needs no Savior!” Hell is eternal because men's sin is against an eternal God.

Hell is the refuse dump of the world.
Hell is the mad house of the universe.
Nothing is more terrible, more fierce.
Hell is eternal and unending.
Hell is full of Christ haters.
Hell is a place for those who walk contrary to God.
Hell is a place for those that break God's commandments.

There are a million ways into hell and no way out!
In hell they say, the harvest is past, the summer is ended and we are not saved.

Hell is a place of Yearning

In Hell there is no hope.

Hell is never-ending.
Hell is eternal.

LAST WORDS OF FAMOUS MEN

"The most dreadful torment of the lost, in fact that which constitutes their state of torment, will be this coming to themselves, when too late for repentance." -H. Alford

Here are the testimonies of people when they came to die, who realized they were damned:

TALLEYRAND PERIGORD: "I am suffering the pangs of the damned."

SIR THOMAS SCOTT: "Until this moment I believed that there was neither a God nor a hell. Now I know and feel there are both and I am doomed to perdition by the just judgement of the Almighty."

THOMAS PAINE: "I would give worlds, if I had them, if the 'Age of Reason' had never been published. O Lord, help me! Christ, help me! Stay with me! It is hell to be left alone!"

VOLTAIRE: "I am abandoned by God and man! I shall go to hell! O Christ! O Jesus Christ!

CHARLES IX, KING OF FRANCE: "What blood, what evil counsels have I followed! I am lost; I see it well!"

HOBBES: "I say again, if I had the whole world to dispose of, I would give it to live one day. I am about to take a leap in the dark!"

GIBBON: "All is now lost, finally, irrecoverably lost, All is dark and doubtful!"

QUEEN ELIZABETH: "All my possessions but for a moment of time!"

SIR THOMAS SMITH: "It is lamentable that men consider not for what end they are born into the world till they are ready to go out of it."

NAPOLEON BONAPARTE: "I died before my time, and my body will be given back to the earth to become food for the worms. Such is the fate of him who has been called the great Napoleon. What an abyss lies between my deep misery and the eternal kingdom of Christ!"

THE SAVIOURS CRY FROM THE BOOK OF MATTHEW

The warnings of Christ are many! He does not relent in his crying out of the sober truth of judgement and hell. Will we stop our own ears to hear of these things? Will we heap to ourselves books, teachers and churches that will tickle our ears of good things? Hear the weight of the testimony of God in the gospel of Matthew. Christ preached more about hell then heaven. "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth no the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).
