Department of Homeland Security Report: Pro-Lifers Most Dangerous Domestic Terrorists

"The Department of Homeland Security has issued an emergency assessment entitled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.” When the document was first made public yesterday, I instructed our staff to verify that this was in fact a legitimate document. The reason I expressed skepticism was that the nature of the statements contained in the report were so outrageous to the pro-life community and to free speech that I could not imagine that Homeland Security would actually issue such a document. Nevertheless, we’ve had an opportunity to verify the document as to its authenticity. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has also stated that it did in fact issue the document to all law enforcement personnel throughout the United States.

The report is troubling as to its scope and dangerous as to its precedent. The key finding noted by the Department of Homeland Security is that, although there is “no specific information that domestic rightwing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence . . . rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about several emergent issues.” In defining rightwing extremism, the report states “rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented . . . and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.” To label pro-lifers and those who are opposed to certain immigration policies as rightwing extremists and domestic terrorists is incorrect as a matter of law and wrong as a matter of policy."

 Re:

What about groups who are hate-oriented toward the unborn...like Obama and the racist baby slaughterhouses called "planned parenthood"? Are they a threat?

And what about federal government who rejects the constitutional authority of states and individuals? They have essentially erased the ninth and tenth amendments in favor of federal dictatorship.

I'm with Krispy...and may be preparing to move to Texas and secede!

Someone who genuinely believes that life is
precious and sacred would never resort to
violent means to send a message that abortion
is a crime and a sin.

 Re:

There has been a lot of talk on a local radio show in Asheville about the western part of NC seceding from the rest of North Carolina and calling ourselves West Carolina. Maybe we should just go all the way and pull out of the Union too. Call ourselves the Republic of Carolina. It could run from Statesville to the TN line.

Hey, we did it once before...

sojourner7... who said anything about violence? My soul seceded from the Union a long time ago when I became a citizen of God's Kingdom.

 Re:

Homeland Security's risk assessment believes
that the right-wing are extremists who are using
fears to recruit others and may resort to violence
to make their point!! Read the article!!

 Re:

Hi sojourner7...

The problem that I have with Obama's pick for Homeland Security Chief, Janet Napolitano, has less to do with potential techniques used to attract supporters...and more to do with just WHO she labels a "right-wing extremist." They are creating a new category of potential suspects based solely upon moral and religious views.

Like you said, true believers do not resort to violence. I am troubled, however, that this report singles out groups who belong to what they feel to be "right wing extremists" (such as anti-abortion groups). Anti-abortion groups do not use "fear" to recruit others (unless the "fear of God" counts - Exodus 20:18-20). In fact, such groups are usually less interested in "recruits" and are only trying to influence people in regard to abortion.

*Ironically, the "news" released by Napolitano doesn't mention a new definition of "potential left-wing extremist groups." I'm sure that Bill Ayers (the Pentagon bomber) is very happy.

:-(

 Re:

Yea... I've been a Christian for over a decade now and my views on abortion were changed by God and His Word. But I have yet to anyone ever try to "recruit" me in the pro-life movement. Ever. Never ever.

Whats next? Label the Bible as recruiting propoganda? Are they gonna ban books next? Maybe have a big ol' fashion book burning... like in that other socialist experiment... Nazi Germany?

Y'all do realize that one of the first things the Nazi regime did was draft a list of potential "threats" against their system, right? This is all very reminicent of that. Once they completed their list thats when the midnight arrests began to happen.

This is just silliness. The only kooks in this country are the people in Congress and the White House.
