| Re: just got a new bible | | Hello rreighe,
Very happy for you. That is a good you are so glad to get it, too. I hope you have many, many years ahead to use it freely. It is wonderful to get a really good tool. The Bible is just that to me. God's Holy word can fix anything.
It would be great to have the ease of searching that the computer gives while holding a physical Bible in your hands. To compensate I make lots of notes on loose pages I place in the front and back of my Bibles. It would be nice if the books came with a pen holder, as I keep mislaying those.
I used to just make the notes on the inside of the front cover but ran out of room quickly. Often when I am reading I see something and want to be able to reread when I need it.
Just read you asking about Lot in another thread, now you can look that up and learn all about him and how God worked in his life.
Kind regards, white stone

| Re: Defenders Study Bible | |
Hi there! I just received a New Defenders Study Bible (King James) from Berean call (Dave Hunts Website) in Genuine Leather and excellent binding. The New Defenders Study Bible is no longer in print, but they still have some for sale, if any are interested, with max of one per customer.
"With larger, easiertoread type and 50 percent more commentary, this is the finest study Bible available. This edition defends biblical Christian faith from the perspective of literal creationism and absolute biblical authority. Includes 21 topical appendices for understanding biblical authority and accuracy."

Sincerely,
Walter

| Re: | | i hope you can make good use of IT. there is just so much! this version with all of the explinations is like 2.5k pages! it's unreal. there is 4 colums on each page, each with maybe a size 6-9 print. i am hoping to start off with learning about the prophecys that are still to come before the earth we live in is gone. in other words end times. well... i am just praying that God will lead me to find out what HE needs me to know. _________________ allan

| Re: | | Hello rreighe,
It's good you have gotten a new Bible. I myself do not know this particular edition so I can't be precise. In general, my advice for you is to read what is written and not go beyond it. Sometimes the commentary in the margins can hide the real meaning of the biblical text from us, for we may rely too much on someone else's judgment and fail to exercise our own. Especially in the times we live in, with all the liberal theology and misinterpretation of Scripture, you need to be careful and carefully and honestly search the Scriptures before you make up your mind on a particular issue. May the Lord give you wisdom by His Spirit and His Word.

Hello, NoWhining.
From what you have written, it seems your kids do not understand the seriousness of the Word of God and do not know the fear of the Lord if they would deem your excitement about getting a new Bible "crazy." Such an attitude reveals their hearts. I don't know how old you are and whether you have come to faith in the Lord after having raised your children, but if they have grown up in a Christian home all their lives and think that, their attitude is a cause for great concern. For in your life they have not yet seen the Christlike example or character, which to challenge their fleshly perceptions and to compel them to a better way. The word of God should be commandments that give life to them, not some irrelevant or insignificant thing. I encourage you to meditate on these words:
Pro 6:20 My son, keep your father's command, And do not forsake the law of your mother. Pro 6:21 Bind them continually upon your heart; Tie them around your neck. Pro 6:22 When you roam, they will lead you; When you sleep, they will keep you; And when you awake, they will speak with you. Pro 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life
They may neither be impressed with your old and ragged Bible, nor with the new one you will buy, but they shall certainly be moved when they see the Word written in your heart and the good fruit you are bearing.
In Christ, Slavyan |

Hello NotMe,
That was beautifully expressed and bears illumination.

| Re: | | Thanks, Walter for the suggestion. I will follow the link and look the offer over. I'm used to the NAS, and going back to the KJV would probably help with our nightly devotions, since my wife prefers the KJV. We sometimes have difficulty following the other's reading scripture!
Slavyan, forgive my misuse of the word "crazy". What I meant was they don't understand the zeal and delight I find in searching for a new bible. Both my daughters are grown, but in their walk, they haven't yet been taught by Christ through the scriptures. When they reach that point, then they'll understand and become as zealous as their father.
But I could understand and identify with rreighe's joy of his new bible.
God's blessings to all of the Brothers and Sisters in Christ. _________________ Don

| Re: | | yeah it (so far) has taken me 1 week to read the first 5 chapters of revelations with all of the extra refferences with daniel and ezikeil and such which explaines parts of it with greater detail.
so this is going to take a very long time to read. it will make the left behind serise seem miniscuel. _________________ allan
