MUST WATCH: Revival According to John by Denny Kenaston

Revival is Christ is the central message of Denny Kenaston's sermon, "Revival According to John," delivered October 23, 2008 at the Atlanta Revival Conference. After hearing Paul Washer's "Ten Indictments," I wondered what God would have me do, and Denny delivered God's suggestions, taken from the apostle John's first letter. In a dynamic, interesting, and thought-provoking manner, Denny defines revival, and illustrates how revival should be our normal experience. "Ten Indictments" and "Revival According to John" are two very powerful words needed in our church today, and as the apostle Paul and the early church father James stand back to back and look at both sides of faith and works, Paul Washer and Denny Kenaston give us a divinely-balanced approach to understanding the revival and reformation God desires in His people today.

Re: MUST WATCH: Revival According to John by Denny Kenaston

I love hearing any message on revival. I believe in predestination and so does my husband.

Romans 8:29
29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Our belief is that revival is going to happen to those who are children of God. Nothing can seperate us from the love of God and that includes revival. It's so exciting to see the deep hungering in God's people knowing these are only the birth pains. I try not to get too caught up on how it's going to happen because it happens differently in every generation.

The way things are going in this world the Lord may just take us away but deep down I believe the Lord wants to bring in another big harvest. Since I believe in predestination for me it's like watching a catapillar turn into a butterfly. When your born of the spirit you know your going but you just don't know where.

This verse is my take on revival:

John 3:8
8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

If your born of the spirit your are moving in the right direction by faith. Just as the Israelites moved out of Egypt not knowing where they were going but they were moving. It's so exciting and we can rest in that. God is so good and it's all Him and none of us. If Jesus is in the boat there is a peace that calms any storm.

I've seen some really ugly things going on in the church the 20 years I have been saved but when I listen to people like Denny Kenaston, it really encourages me and causes me to want to press on and focus on what the Lord is doing.:-)

"We're talking about intimate fellowship brothers and sisters. Knowing God in reality. . . . Christianity is not going to church, and it is not "doing this" or "not doing that" - not first. Christianity is fellowship with the living God. That is why Jesus died on the cross. . . . Jesus didn't die just so that you could go to heaven. And He didn't just die just because He didn't want you to to to hell. Yes, that is true, that was some of His motivation, but Jesus went to the cross that He might reconcile God and man back together again that man might have fellowship with the living God.

. . .

Dear people, we give ourselves away. We live in a day and an age when God's people are trying to find their pleasure, and their joy, and their satisfaction in all kinds of other things. . . . But oh brothers and sisters, are we not giving ourselves away when we find ourselves as God's people going to the cisterns of the world to drink so that we can also find some pleasure here, and find some pleasure there, when all God is longing for is that we would find our pleasure in Him again? "In thy presence is fullness of joy" God says, and "at thy right hand are pleasures forevermore and another verse talks about a river of pleasure shalt God give to us, and brothers and sisters, that's not sensuality, it's way deeper than that, it's in the spirit, it's in the heart of man, it's God filling that empty space that He made for Himself, and Himself alone. But oh in this land that we live in today we're trying to satisfy it with everything else but God."
