  Victory by the Blood of the Lamb

Victory by the Blood of the Lamb

Revelation 12:11
“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb.”…

The precious blood of Jesus is not meant for us merely to admire and exhibit. We must not be content to talk about it, and extol it, and do nothing with it; but we are to use it in the great crusade against unholiness and unrighteousness, till it is said of us,

“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb.”

This precious blood is to be used for overcoming, and consequently for holy warfare. We dishonor it if we do not use it to that end. Some, I fear, use the precious blood of Christ only as a quietus to their consciences. They say to themselves,

“He made atonement for sin, therefore let me take my rest.”

This is doing a grievous wrong to the great sacrifice.… We are to use the glorious mystery of atoning blood as our chief means of overcoming sin and Satan: its power is for holiness.… By the atoning blood we withstand corruption within and temptation without. This is the weapon which nothing can resist.

Charles H. Spurgeon, Sermons of Rev. C.H. Spurgeon.

 Re: Victory by the Blood of the Lamb

Thank you for this post.

May the Lord open our eyes so that we would see and know that there is victory through the Blood of the Lamb. May those old songs about the blood be restored to the Church, because it is through the blood of the Lamb that we overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil.

Mike

There is Power in the Blood
Words & Music: Lewis E. Jones, 1899

Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow.
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

 Re:

Amen Heartsong! There is power in the blood!

There is victory in Jesus!!

I heard an old, old story,
How a Savior came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning,
Of His precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory.

Chorus
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing,
Of His cleansing pow'r revealing.
How He made the lame to walk again
And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried, "Dear Jesus,
Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and bro't
To me the victory.

Chorus
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory.
And I heard about the streets of gold
Beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing,
And the old redemption story,
And some sweet day I'll sing up there
The song of victory.

Chorus
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.

 Re: With His Blood He Purchased Me

The hymn "I Will Sing of My Redeemer," was found in a piece of baggage
rescued from a fiery train wreck on the day of December 20, 1876. The
author, 38 year old Philip P. Bliss, had been traveling with his wife to
Chicago to help in the D. L. Moody Tabernacle service. In Ohio, a bridge
collapsed and the train plunged into an icy river bed. It is said that
Bliss survived the fall and climbed out through a coach window only to
return, looking for his wife. Reunited, they died together in the flaming
wreckage. This hymn is a very simple expression of the truth of the Gospel.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I Will Sing of My Redeemer
I will sing of my Redeemer and his wondrous love to me;
On the cruel cross He suffered, from the curse to set me free.
Refrain:
Sing, oh, sing of my redeemer, with His blood He purchased me,
On the cross He sealed my pardon, paid the debt, and made me free.
I will tell the wondrous story, how my lost estate to save,
In His boundless love and mercy, He the ransom freely gave.
Refrain:
Sing, oh, sing of my redeemer, with His blood He purchased me,
On the cross He sealed my pardon, paid the debt, and made me free.
I will praise my dear Redeemer, His triumphant power I'll tell,
How the victory He giveth over sin, and death, and hell.
Refrain:
Sing, oh, sing of my redeemer, with His blood He purchased me,
On the cross He sealed my pardon, paid the debt, and made me free.
I will sing of my Redeemer and His heavenly love for me;
He from death to life hath brought me, Son of God, with Him to be.
Refrain:
Sing, oh, sing of my redeemer, with His blood He purchased me,
On the cross He sealed my pardon, paid the debt, and made me free.
 Re: Victory by the Blood of the Lamb
It reaches to the highest Mountain,
And it flows through the lowest Valley,
The Blood that gives us Strength from day to day,
It will never lose its Power.
Praise God for His Precious Blood.
