| Re: | | Hi Mike...
We're praying. Last weekend, a woman jumped/fell off of the Golden Gate Bridge. She apparently changed her mind and was hanging from the rail...but lost her grip. My in-laws were visiting and we were there, although we didn't see it happen (we were on the side of the mountain just off the bridge). As we watched the boats searching for her body below, I just couldn't help but wonder what would cause someone to do such a thing. Supposedly, this happens nearly once a week at the Bridge. It is a desperation that this world cannot answer. Sadly, this woman's story didn't even make the news or as an article in the paper.
My wife and I are considering heading up to the Bridge tonight...with some homemade tracts (attached with a candy cane or something). We would like to let people know that there is hope for this world...but it comes from outside of this world. What a friend we have in Jesus!
We are praying for this young lady and your family.

| Re: Requesting your prayers ... | | Spoke with my Aunt a little while ago ...
She is the sweetest lady I know, precious, a model of tolerance of so much, the things she has been through ...
She so appreciated all your prayers, it brings her comfort to know that they are going up for her and Teri. Her voice cracked a little and my heart along with hers.
Apparently Teri is coming around somewhat, confused and they have to keep her sedated for the time being. It doesn't look like there has been any organ damage. There is a great deal of difficulty in all this that I am somewhat remiss to divulge just here. She has both a thyroid condition as well as a certain disease the name which I cannot recall that causes a great variation in hormones, causing them to enrage up and down - Bout's with anxiety and depression, the cocktails of medications. Coupling all that is this season as has been well attested to. It is problematic in that her father and later my cousin both died around the holidays. The real stickler here and I would assume a great variety of opinion could be forwarded ... I was adopted, but my mothers father took his own life when they were fairly young. It didn't occur to me until today that of my mothers side, 3 sisters in all, only my Aunt Bev went on to have children. My mother was unable to (such was our being adopted) and my other Aunt never married. The doctors have asked for some background and made the comment about the hereditary aspects being passed down to these inclinations. My cousin died from an overdose.

Though not completely out of the woods, it is going forward that will be difficult. The surprise and shock of it all is that she has been doing so much better of late. Last year at this time there was a lot that wasn't known of the problems that she had, this disease and so forth. She did mention to my Aunt recently that she was just tired of feeling lousy, apparently the drugs make her sick. But also has a new love in her life ... It's the combination surely of all these things. It's very personal and I can only offer this much I guess because I know of the maturity of most of you, I know that it helps to have more specifics to our prayers.
I thank you profoundly, my Aunt does as well. _________________ Mike Balog

| Re: | | Thanks for updating us brother Mike. There are alot of adoptions and suicide in my family as well which I actually was pondering in the event of your niece. I'm so grateful she is beginning to revive. May she have a mighty testimony from this.
I had to recover from fear that my sister, who has several times overdosed in the past years (diagnosed manic depressive)would also take the same route. I am holding onto the scriptures for my family and have laid them at His feet in my trust of Him. It is my only recourse when I see some of the comments she makes on her posts and her obsession with morbid subjects and people. There is no question that satan moves her.
My peace also comes from a statement made by our dear Corrie Ten Boom. She said," Yes, satan has much power but God's power is greater and satan's power is limited." Bless the Lord.
And brother, the saints here do pray and may your Aunt feel His presence and comfort from them. Amen

| Re: | | My dear Brother,
Just found this thread. I can relate to the family situation as well as others here. Sadly far too many of us in this sin sick world have had our share of seeing what the devil can do to torment, depress, opress, and use every kind of imagination and pressure of society and season to destroy precious lives and souls.
I will be praying this very hour.

| Re: | | Dear saints,
Thank you so much. My Aunt thanks you.
She is coming home tomorrow and is doing tremendously well. Much more could be said but my Aunt is assured that all of the prayers, is convinced more so of this turnabout. It is remarkable ... _________________ Mike Balog

| Re: | | Oh, praise the Lord!
On a sadder note:
I just found out today that a lady that I hardly knew committed suicide (she left a note blaming it on her husband who was divorcing her). Last year she sent me a Christmas card which was simply a signed picture of her and her family in Disneyland. While I was confused by the card (having only met her a couple of times, and that being over 10 years ago) I responded in kind and sent her back a card with a short note. Nothing more, nothing less.
In looking back, I think that she was reaching out for help. Somehow she knew that I had the answer - even though she did not know me - but had possibly heard of me, of my relationship with the Lord, through others.
I pray that the Lord makes me ever more sensitive to the cry of the lost and the hurting. That I would recognize even the smallest whimper.
Please pray for her family. It was her teen aged son that found her - and she used a gun.
Forgive me Lord. |
