Why The Church Of America Is Failing
by brother Greg

A trumpet blast to those that have plugged their ears!

PREACHING NEEDED

Leonard Ravenhill said 20 years ago: “We are on the edge of disaster, we on the edge of wrath.” Oh to realize how close we are to the judgement of God in America and Canada. The last words of Jesus Christ to His Church included the indictment: ‘I know thy works’ seven times! I know thy works, I know thy works, I know thy works, I know thy works, I know thy works, I know thy works, I know thy works. All things are laid bare before Him of whom we “must” give account. How can we even deceive ourselves why we don’t have revival? It is all around us and in our life’s, hidden sin! There is no escaping that awful and dreadful day Church! God is crying out to you: “I know your works” be zealous therefore and repent. Many will say that we are ready to be judged in North America because of the wicked heathen and unbelievers who are blaspheming the name of God. No! Judgement is coming to America because of a back-slidden, lukewarm, professing church. There is preaching needed that will confront a church that is comfortable in her sins. I would quote to you the saintly Finney: “Away with your milk and water preaching of the love of Christ that has no holiness or moral discrimination in it, away with the preaching of Christ not crucified for sin.” On this very truth a highlander minister stated once: “Bring me a God of all mercy but no just, bring me a God of all love but not righteous, and I will have no scruples in calling Him an idiot of your imagination.” Alas, the American Church has embraced such a “idiot” conception of God. Is that hard to hear? It will sound much harder to hear the words from the judgement bar of God: “depart from me, I never knew you.” We are afraid to disturb people these days, we are afraid to preach against sin, we sit in church and are not moved. The word’s of Alan Redpath ring sadly true today: “In light of the cross of Christ, is it not a scandal the way we live?”

A ECONOMIC COLLAPSE

What will it take for the Church of America to truly follow God in denying self and taking up the Cross of Christ? David Ravenhill responded in this way: “I’m hoping personally for some sort of an economic collapse. I know that sounds very extreme, but I believe it’s going to take this to bring the church back to God. The prophet Isaiah said, ‘When the earth experiences Thy judgments the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. Though the wicked is shown favor, it does not learn righteousness.’ (Isaiah 26:9) We have known the continued favor and blessing of God in this nation for years yet continue to live selfish, self-centered lives. God has simply become a means to an end. We have made Him to be the divine butler who stands waiting to meet our every whim and fancy. It’s time for the church to be ‘about our Father’s business.’ Please don’t misunderstand me. I’m not wanting to go through another “great depression” but I fail to see any other way.”

Ron Lagerquist shares these sobering words: “Revelation 18 describes an economic earthquake that will hit America with such force it will make the Great Depression seem like child's play. It will be utter destruction in which she will never rise again. A judgment from the hand of God because of a nation that is seeped in adultery and rebellion. A nation that began as a Light on a Hill became a corrupting stench rising up to the altar of the Living God. The moral fabric that would allow America back on its feet from the Great Depression will not be present in this massive economic earthquake. The Beast she rides will devour her flesh so he may rise to absolute world power, filling the vacuum created by America's fall. The only warning will be the prophetic voices of the faithful saints of God who will be hated and despised by the world. For the Harlot will be drunk on the blood of the saints. In her intoxication, her mind will be numb to her impending doom. A head–on collision with a wrathful God. If you have built your life on the sands of the kingdom of this world, your hopes, your dreams, your energies and aspirations will mingle with the smoke that will rise up from the utter destruction of Babylon.”

AMERICA WILL NOT REPENT

America has been warned relentlessly by many over the last 50 years. One of those voices is David Wilkerson who spoke these words over 20 years ago: “This nation has not repented but, rather, has turned its back on the Word of the Lord, and now God will do what He said He would do. Only a remnant now follows the Lord with all their hearts, living in holy surrender and full communion with Him. There has been no deep heart repentance. We have leaders who are thought of as ‘Christians’ who publicly confess they don’t even know what it means to be born again. Only lip service is given to God, and the popular evangelical Christianity of this hour is nothing but political and lukewarm, at its best. This nation, its government, its churches, gives the Lord Jesus mere acknowledgment but not heart repentance. We have great moral indignation against poverty, abortion, crime, injustice, and that is commendable but we have not enthroned Jesus Christ as Lord and King in our hearts. Millions claim to be Christians, yet only a very small number are entering the straight gate. If God favors America with more time and prosperity, it will only increase the wickedness and rebellion, making judgement even more certain. God promised to preserve America only if it turned from its evil. What more could He have done for America? Could He have been any more patient then He has been? ‘I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts.’ The unthinkable is going to happen to America and parts of Canada, and few will believe it. The prophets of peace and prosperity will reply, ‘God has promised to keep us from the day of wrath, because we have kept the word of His patience.’ This nation has not kept God’s word, nor has the church. Like in the church of Sardis, there are only a few who have not defiled robes of white. Don’t listen to the prophets of peace and prosperity. They are deceived. They have not heard the true Word of God. They are not of the spirit of Elijah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Jeremiah. They have not been weeping and travailing over the sins of the nation and God’s people. Who is close enough to God to hear the sounding of His trumpet? The word of judgement has never been heard or accepted by the church or its leaders. Elijah stood alone for God before 400 prophets of Baal. Jeremiah stood alone before the entire religious systems of Judah and Israel. The greatest enemies to his message were the leaders in God’s house.”

Does this shake you believer? Does it move you? Oh I cry with the godly Duncan Campbell for this land: “I would to God that a wave of real godly fear gripped our land.” How calloused we have become, how dry eyed in light of such moral and spiritual collapse in our countries.

A TRUMPET SOUND

Again hear the voice of David Wilkerson warning america in the last days: “America is going to be destroyed by fire! Sudden destruction is coming and few will escape. Unexpectedly, and in one hour, a hydrogen holocaust will engulf America -- and this nation will be no more. America has sinned against the greatest light. Other nations are just as sinful, but none are as flooded with gospel light as ours. God is going to judge America for its violence, its crimes, its backsliding, its murdering of millions of babies, its flaunting of homosexuality and sadomasochism, its corruption, its drunkenness and drug abuse, its form of godliness without power, its lukewarmness toward Christ, its rampant divorce and adultery, its lewd pornography, its child molestations, its cheatings, its robbings, its dirty movies, and its occult practices. In one hour it will all be over. To the natural mind it is insanity to come against a prosperous, powerful nation and cry out, "It's all over! Judgment is at the door! Our days are numbered!" The Church is asleep, the congregations are at ease, and the shepherds slumber. How they will scoff and laugh at this message. Theologians will reject it because they can't fit it into their doctrine. The pillow prophets of peace and prosperity will publicly denounce it. I no longer care. God has made my face like flint and put steel in my backbone. I am blowing the Lord's trumpet with all my might. Let the whole world and all the church call me crazy, but I must blow the trumpet and awaken God's people. Believe it or not, America is about to be shaken and set aside by swift and horrible judgments. Many other praying believers who have been shut in with God are hearing the very same message - ‘Judgment is at the door! Prepare, awaken!’”

AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL

This sobering poem was written recently by Judge Roy Moore in America: “America the Beautiful, or so you used to be. So many worldly preachers tell lies about our Rock, Saying God is going broke so they can fleece the flock. We've kept God in our temples, How callous we have grown. When earth is but His footstool, And Heaven is His throne. You think that God's not angry, That our land's a moral slum? How much longer will He wait Before His judgement comes? How are we to face our God, From Whom we cannot hide? What then is left for us to do, But stem this evil tide? If we who are His children, will humbly turn and pray; Seek His holy face and mend our evil way; Then God will hear from Heaven And forgive us of our sins, He'll heal our sickly land and those who live within. But, America the Beautiful, If you don't then you will see, A sad but Holy God withdraw His hand from Thee.”

The only hope for America is if she seeks God in prayer on her knees. The church of Jesus Christ in america need to humble herself before a holy God of whom we will all bear account of all the deed done in the body whether good or bad. God has warned His people over and over again will we not hear? will we not “unplug” our ears all face the reality of our sins and waywardness?

Re: Why The Church Of America Is Failing by Greg Gordon

I think this article is very good.

I have struggled with the question, "Exactly where is America in God's overall plan for the world in the end times?"

We don't see America in the vision in Daniel, or Ezekiel, or other places in the Bible.

So there has to be room for speculation, and varying ideas abound.

First of all, I know there IS a remnant in the United States that is serving God, that is the apple of His eye, and that doesn't deserve condemnation. They can't do more to please God, He is happy with them just the way they are, because of His Mighty Love for them. For them to think otherwise would be a return to works based theology, thinking they somehow had to do more, to please him. A departure from the Spirit, to the Law, if you will.

Then there are the unsaved, who act it, because they are.

Is there a lukewarm church somewhere in the middle? Yes, I do agree there is.

But please don't assume America rises or falls based upon the lukewarm church. What about the rest of the world then? It is much more wicked.

But that is not to say I don't want to pursue "revival" which I think alot of times gets mixed up with a continual relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ on a daily basis. That is not revival, for the sake of it, but a relationship.

For those who have been revived, they don't need another revival, they simply need to walk in relationship, without the condemnation to experience another revival.

I know people, good people, will disagree with me. But for a moment, imagine the United States of America, completely living for the Lord, at that time appointed by God, when He decides to send Jesus in the Rapture.

What does the Bible clearly say the world will be like at that time? Will there be wars, and rumors of wars, and many other unimaginable (to the Western mind in our day) taking place?

Does Islam want to wipe Jews and Christians from the face of the earth? Does Iran's President want to blow the United States (which he calls the Great Satan) off the face of the map?

Does he want to do those things because we are so backslidden that he can't see we are am image of Jesus Christ, whom the devil in him hates?

See, this world is going to fall, all of it, not just America. Our place in this world is foreign aliens, just passing through.

Many good people want to somehow live in this earth, in America, off the fat, and continue to live a peaceful and lavish life (and I don't begrudge them that, for its sake alone), and they can't realize that our real life is in heaven, forever with the Lord for all eternity.

This whole world, lies under the sway of the wicked one, and that just happens to include America. It will all fall, it will all burn someday, NOT JUST AMERICA, AND NOT BECAUSE AMERICA HAS FALLEN, OR SOMEHOW FAILED IN GOD'S EYES.

It has taken years for me to "get it." I hope this helps you in your world view.

None of that is to say that there won't be difficult and trying times ahead for the Saints of God. If Jesus tarries, I think that we as the Body of Christ are going to go through difficult times, many trials and testings.

There are people in charge, behind the scenes, who control events, and perhaps, have a direct connection to Lucifer himself. The money (unrighteous mammon) is controlled by him. Again, the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. Banks, once not trusted in our society, are a part of the evil plot to take over our nation's monetary system. The "Fed," was never part of the dream of our founding fathers, nor was the IRS. We have drifted from our moorings in ways we don't even know, not because Christians have backslidden, but because evil men controlled by the devil have slyly taken control of things behind the scenes, in ways we simply have no, or little knowledge of.

We can't stop it, because it is not even in God's plan to stop it, IN THIS LIFE!

We will rule and reign with Him, in a NEW HEAVEN, AND A NEW EARTH. Not this one. Yes, I love America, am a Patriot, and a veteran. But American is going to fall, it is all a part of the end times, and a part of God's overall plan.

Re: Why The Church Of America Is Failing by Greg Gordon

The fact that we live in the end times, and that things are happening which have to happen in order for all the Bible prophecy to take place, is not my fault. It is not because I don't read my Bible enough, or pray enough, or fellowship with other believers enough, or anything else.

For me to accept that it is, is to allow condemnation to come upon myself, and then I have to try to do something to please, or appease God.

He loves me. I am His child. I cannot do more for Him, to get Him to love me more.

Others, whom I know exist, and in large numbers, also fit into this same category.

So some need to just take a chill pill. Accept that God loves you UNCONDITIONALLY, and realize that your sin was dealt with COMPLETELY upon calvary. Sin was killed upon the cruel cross, and you were raised in Christ Jesus, PERFECT, AND WITHOUT SIN. Your sin was thrown into the deepest sea, never to be remembered again.

God looks at you through the blood of Jesus, and He sees a pure righteous spotless bride.

You, if you fall into that category, don't need revival. You simply need to walk in love, and fellowship in the garden with the Lord each day, and realize His sincere and deep love for you. He lives to fellowship with you! He strongly desires you, just the way you are. You can't fix one little thing about you He doesn't like.

Sure, there is something called progressive sanctification, but it takes a lifetime, and you never really full arrive this side of heaven.

So relax. Enjoy the ride. Heaven is the next and final destination.

 Re:

The Word of God says that judgment must begin in the house of God, and that if we would judge ourseleves then we would not be judged of the Lord.

The problem is that we have not judged ourselves. We have become very comfortable in our prosperity and blessing, and now the Lord is chastening His own people.

I hope that we will get the message soon, because time is running out.

The Lord is shouting to us through all of the hurricanes, eartquakes, fires, financial disasters, for us to wake up. "Awake to righteousness, and sin not."

God is looking for intercessors that will humble themeselves and pray, and cry out for mercy for themseleves and for this land. God would rather show mercy than judgment, and this is evident by the fact that we are still here.

May the Lord help us and give us grace to get it right.

Mike

 Re:

DP writes " is not my fault." Now I know I have plucked that phrase out, but I think it may be apt. Let the cry of God's people be "Lord forgive us that we have left our first love," or "Lord forgive us that we are asleep." Judgement indeed begins at the house of the Lord, revival of God's people begins with a hearts cry of repentence and a knowledge of just how far we are from Him. May our heart reflect the psalmist when he writes "as the deer panteth for the waterbrooks so my soul longeth after thee.".........Frank

Amen brother!!

"And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write: These things saith the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the Creation of God;

I know thy works, that thou are neither cold nor hot: I would thou were cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot I will spue thee out of My mouth.

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

I counsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne."

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
(Rev.3:14-22)

If the above scriptures do not describe the American Church, especially those that preach prosperity but deny our practical cross, then I don't know what does.

Mike
