The True Baptism in the Holy Spirit

The True Baptism in the Holy Spirit

Maybe you have some better light on this subject than I do but I believe the absence of this baptism in our local churches is why so little has been done for Christ.

I believe scripture will verify that the baptism in the Holy Spirit can only come to a person after the remission of sins. When I speak of remission, I’m not just speaking of forgiveness of sins for salvation. I am speaking of the washing away of sins which precedes the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

I see in the book of acts, that the apostles baptized people after repentance, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins before they laid hands on them to receive the Holy Ghost. The only place recorded where anyone received the Holy Spirit after Pentecost before baptism was on the Gentiles in acts 10. However, this was not done by God until Peter had spoken these words in Acts 10:43-44 (KJV) 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

Then Peter said in Acts 10:47-48 (KJV) 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

If we would read about the vision that God showed Peter in the earlier part of acts 10, we could see that God was preparing Peter to accept the Gentiles into the faith of Jesus where the Jews had not prior fellowship with them. The Gentiles receiving the miraculous baptism of the Holy Spirit before water baptism was to show Peter without a doubt that God had accepted them also. We can see this further in Acts 11:15-18 (KJV) 15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

We see from scripture that baptism in water is in 1 Peter 3:21 is the answer of a good conscience toward God. I also believe baptism in water was for a deeper experience not that a person could not have this deeper experience before water baptism but that we are suppose to understand it by being baptized. Look at Romans 6:3-6 (KJV) 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

I believe they were to get the revelation that they were crucified when Christ was crucified and that baptism was their burial. The end of the old man and that they were to live as a new man in the spirit to walk in newness of Life.

We know that believing in Jesus Christ by his name, and by his shed blood, we receive remission of sins. We know physical water does not save but being cleansed by the blood and baptized into Jesus Christ is the way God saves us and is what water baptism is to represent. I could go on about some other things and I am very interested in what others have learned.

Here is what I want to say about the true baptism in the Holy Spirit. I believe there have been at least 2 directions today that have come up short of the true baptism. One is within the charismatic movement where you just repeat some words. The other is, you already have it when you got saved so you don’t need to seek to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

The 120 in the upper room were not waiting to be saved, they were waiting to be baptized in the Holy Spirit so that they would have the power and the ability from the Holy Spirit to preach the gospel to the uttermost ends of the earth. They knew they could not fulfill the great commission apart from the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They were obeying Christ command. After they were baptized in the Holy Spirit they preached repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus. When they were baptized they were considered added to the church. They followed in Jesus steps and did not send anybody out to witness their faith before they had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

First of all the baptism in the Holy Spirit is power from on High and one can only be filled after remission of sins by the blood of Jesus. So many people confuse the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the fruit of the spirit. I have found out that after one has been baptized there still needs to be a growth in the spirit. The Holy Spirit produces the fruit.

There are people who have been saved and have the Holy Spirit and have produced fruit but have yet to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. This is a commandment of Jesus and we need to desire to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Lastly, when a person is baptized in the Holy Spirit (search the book of acts) He will take control of His vessel surrendered to Him and you will know it because he will flow in you and speak through you supernaturally. You will experience power and know that you have! You will experience a love for God and souls like never before.

But you can never own the spirit, because you must stay humble and live a sanctified life and stay full of the Holy Spirit by being obedient. He owns us, for we have been bought with a price.

Thanks for any comments.

Re: The True Baptism in the Holy Spirit

Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Holy Spirit?

Where are we saved? Spirit

Where are we being saved? Soul

Where and when will we be saved? Body

2 Corinthians 1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

1 Peter 1:18-25 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Who is birthed in us by the Incorruptable Seed?

Ephesians 1:10-13 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,

Who sealed un into Christ?

Who's Spirit were we all baptized into.

1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Ro 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Ro 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Ro 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.

We must separate the Holy Spirit from the Spirit of Christ, in dealing with man, not as One God, or the waters get muddy and we don't have understanding of our baptisms. We are baptized into Christs death, when the Father places the Incorruptable Seed of Christ in us, resurrection in Christ's Spirit, now our spirit is saved, for we were, "crucified with Christ, this is the birthing of Spirit and Water of Life, without which we cannot understand the things of the Kingdom. The Holy Spirit is baptized into us, sent by the answered prayer of Christ by the Father, Pentecost, and The Holy Spirit seals the Christ in us, when we are born again of the Father's Seed, which is Christ. This is the baptism of the Holy Spirit into the Holy Spirit. Now we have the Spirit of Christ sealed in us, which is our life and the Holy Spirit also, which is our Teacher-Comforter and the Renewer of our minds-souls, to the Mind of Christ. The Spirit is saved, as past tense, "delivered", "Christ in you the Hope of Glory", The soul-mind is being saved, or "doth save" present tense, by the Holy Spirit, The Body, "will be saved" future tense, by the Father.

2 Corinthians 1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, (Spirit of Christ) and doth deliver: (Holy Spirit in our soul-mind, in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us; By the Father giving us our resurrected bodies and He raised Christ in body.

Water baptism is a picture of what the Father has done, as you said, crucified with Christ, raised in newness of life and baptized into Christs death. The Holy Spirit baptized into us by the Father and the Father and Jesus Christ making their abode with us. The mystery of the Trinity:

1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, One God, One Spirit, three different Natures to deal with the spirit, soul and body of man.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Re: The True Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We recently baptized 6 people in our church. As far as I am aware only one got filled with the Holy Spirit. We laid hands on all of them to receive the Holy Spirit and later sent them to the Holy Spirit session of the Alpha Course, to no avail. I am still praying for my own daughter to become filled with the Holy Spirit.

In Charismatic/Pentecostal circles the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is becoming less common nowadays. Many who had once been filled with the Holy Spirit stagnate in their walk with God. We are quenching the Spirit by all our man made program driven services. Our amplified and stage performance rock concert type of worship times have given us a substitute for Spirit lead worship. You do not have to be filled with the Holy Spirit to participate in these services, it is no longer expected that the Holy Spirit speak to us in the service. We attribute the feelings that the music creates to a "move of the Spirit."

I wish we can come back to services where the Holy Spirit can work through a whole body of Spirit filled believers.

Hi narrowpath,

Thanks for your post. I see and feel the same.

I believe many today have learned how to have church with out the presence of God really manifesting himself in our services.

Many don't know what they are missing because leaders in many of today's churches don't have the experience themselves and are content with there own programs.

We live in a difficult society of self achievers and many are not hungering for God's presence.

I pray that there will be an awakening among the church that will cause many to contend for the faith once delivered unto the saints.

Jesus Christ is the son of God wherein the fullness of the Godhead dwells and we are complete in Him.

The subject I am talking about from my first post is the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

The bible reveals to us in the gospels and the first chapter of acts that Jesus is the one who baptizes us in the Holy Ghost to have power to witness Him.

I believe the bible teaches that there is the experience of the baptism of the Holy Spirit by Jesus after one is born again. The apostles were baptized in the Holy Ghost because Jesus told them to wait until they had been endue with power from on high, and then they were to go.

The work of God of our day should be the same as in the beginning. I believe this is what God wants, the same as in the beginning.
