PCUSA Assembly Approves 'Gay' Clergy The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s highest governing body voted Friday in favor of a proposal that would allow for the ordination of non-celibate gays and lesbians. The 218th General Assembly, meeting in San Jose, Calif., this week, voted 380-325 to send the overture that would delete the requirement that clergy live in "fidelity within the covenant of marriage between and a man and a woman, or chastity in singleness" to the denomination's 173 presbyteries for approval.Adding to the blow to conservatives, the Assembly also adopted a supplementary authoritative interpretation of the PC(USA) constitution that would allow gay and lesbian candidates for ordination to conscientiously object the current "fidelity and chastity" standard and the local ordaining body to discern whether the declared objection is disqualifying. ...read more: www.christianpost.com

Right out of my own backyard ...Hopefully they will next vote to approve an amendment that removes the word "Church" from their title, seeing that it is already absent ...

We that are in other churches and denominations need to prayerfully preparing to receive those PCUSA memebers who will be exiting the PCUSA because of this decision. The vote was nearly 50/50, which suggests that a large portion of the members will not stand for this change. Get ready for a likely exodus. With more than 2 million members, perhaps several hundred-thousand may leave in search of more biblically sound fellowship. At least I hope so.It was liberal decisions such as this that created the more conservative OPC, URC, and PCA.
PCUSA has been headed in this direction for a long long time.I believe the word "Ichabod" is appropriate here.Krispy
It is so sad, but yes, The Glory of the Lord has departed from not only PCUSA, but any organizationthat embraces this.God Bless all.Nellie
