Re:

Brother Frank,
I couldn't agree with you more. The greatest commandment that Jesus gave to us is to love the Lord with all of our being, and this includes our emotions. We are to be fervent in spirit, and that means to be red hot. The Lord desires our fellowship, and this is a fellowship in the Spirit, but it will affect our whole being. We are not to be guided by our feelings and emotions, but love, joy, and peace which are all fruits of the Spirit can be felt in our emotions. God is looking for more than just mental assent to His truth. He wants all of our hearts.

Mike

Re: Stabbed in the heart(Baptism in the Holy Spirit)

It would seem that the normative evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is the compelling in both by word and deed to proclaim the Grace of God to all men given to us by Jesus Christ.

I encourage you to read the full scripture, however, for time I am just putting a quick summary of the scriptures that are sited all from Acts.

Acts 1:8 You shall receive power to be witnesses

This is the main scripture for understanding the evidence of your being baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:11 They declared the wonderful works of God

Acts 4:8 Peter filled with the Holy Ghost spoke resulting in him preaching the Gospel

Acts 4:31 They spoke the Word of God with boldness

Acts 6:10 (Concerning Stephen) They were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

Acts 7:55 (In deed) Stephen saw the Glory of God

Acts 8:26 (In deed ref Acts 6:5) Phillip filled with the Holy Spirit is obedient to the commission of God to bring someone to the knowledge of Christ as revealed in Scripture.

Acts 9:17 Jesus appeared unto Ananias and told him that Saul was to be filled with the Holy Ghost

Acts 9:20 Straightaway he preached Christ that He was the Son of God

Acts 10:44 While Peter spoke the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the Word.

Acts 10:45-47 The Christian Jews were astonished...why? Because the Gentiles spoke with tongues and magnified God. "Can we forbid...they received as well as we" as in the beginning Acts 11:15 refering to Acts 2 (Pentacost)

Acts 11:24 (Barnabas) He was a good man and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith. When he came he exorted them to cleave to the Lord.

Acts 13:9 Paul rebukes Elymas the sorcerer

Acts 13:52 The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit. Why were they filled with joy? Because of Acts 13:49 which tells us that the Word of the Lord was published throughout the region.

Acts 19:6 Spoke with tongues and prophesies (John's disciples missing the baptism of Jesus in the Holy Spirit)

So we can conclude that THE evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is the proclaiming of the Word of God in power from on high to accomplish His purposes on the Earth in bringing mankind to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as the Messiah.

 Re:

Dear appolus:

I am sorry if I said something to offend you. I did read your entire post. I happen to disagree with only two statements made in the first and second paragraphs of your first post. Those statements are found below, and are highlighted, and refer to a “HEAT” OR WARMTH” that comes into a person, through the top of their head and down through their body when they have received this Baptism of Fire.

This is what you posted:
1.
I am writing about an experience that is genuinely confusing to a lot of Christians. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit as we read about in Acts. If we as a church do not experience this kind of power, then we are destined to be just another church. I have been a Christian now for 18 years, and have heard many testimonies and stories throughout the years on this experience. One example comes out time and time again and it is one that I can personally relate to. This "heat ," or "warmth," that comes into a person, through the top of their head and down through their body.

2.
It is interesting that John the Baptist foretold that Jesus would Baptize His followers with fire and on the day of Pentecost there were tongues of fire above their heads. And now, two thousand years later, a common description of being Baptized in the Holy Spirit is the heat or the warmth that starts on the top of peoples heads. I have no real ……………………..”

Walter continues:

The change that occurs in a Born Again believer that has received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is that of a changed life, with all of many the references in my post, as well as those of others. These references have nothing to do with a physical or emotional feeling in the body, ie (This "heat ," or "warmth," that comes into a person, through the top of their head and down through their body. ").

Several examples:
DesiJr. Posted this conclusion of the evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, that I agree with:

So we can conclude that THE evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is the proclaiming of the Word of God in power from on high to accomplish His purposes on the Earth in bringing mankind to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as the Messiah.

AbideinHim posted this as evidence of being Baptized in the Holy Spirit, that I also agree with:

……………………..The Lord desires our fellowship, and this is a fellowship in the Spirit, but it will affect our whole being. We are not to be guided by our feelings and emotions, but love, joy, and peace which are all fruits of the Spirit can be felt in our emotions. Hi Walter
Brother Walter....if you read my post, entitled "stabbed in the heart,' the whole point and thrust of the post was to highlight the fact of why we are Baptized in the Holy Spirit. The very phrase that is quoted "stabbed in the heart,' was to prove this. So here is a post that you completely agree with but you chose to highlight the word "feeling." That is worth pondering in your own walk brother. If you have a relationship with Jesus that is totaly devoid of any feeling, then I simply cannot relate. JOhn the Baptist told us that Jesus had come to Baptize with fire. The Apostles that walked with Jesus after he was risen marvelled at how their "hearts burned within them." Hence the title of one of brother Tozers books "Fellowship of the burning heart." Our faith, true and genuine faith, is not devoid of feeling. Jesus is the lover of my soul. Are you married Walter? Lets say that you are. Do you have any feelings for your wife? I hope that you do. What kind of love would it be if it were devoid of feelings and emotions? Everything that I believe brother, is based on the word of God. I accept nothing if it is not written. That is why it is not too difficult to dismiss Lakeland and Toronto blessings and other so called revivals. They are one extreme end of a spectrum, unfortunatly the opposite end of the spectrum are men who have no feelings at all, they have a lifeless religion, based in their head and not in their heart. We must strike a balance in this day. There are many in the church, because of what they see in Toronto and Lakeland and elswhere that have "thrown the baby out with the bathwater." I caution these men. Jesus is alive and I know Him personaly. I have an "intimate," relationship with Him that invloves every part of who I am and all of this is within the bounds of Scripture. Can I ask you Walter, does the Lord have every part of who you are? Its a very serious question. The Lord wants all of us, not a part of us. ..............Frank

 Re:

Hi Walter, what makes you think that I am offended? I think that all good Christians everywhere would agree that we are not to be guided by our feelings or emmotions. I described to the readers my "feelings," as I was Baptized in the Holy Spirit, nothing more, nothing less. All I would say is that many times the thrust of a post or something that is important to be heard, can be lost by pointless back and forward, tit for tat comments. I am not really interested in that. I am interested in people being Baptized in the Holy Spirit so that they can speak with power and that the listeners would be "stabbed in the heart." I am glad that you have many people who support your position, I will just let my words speak for themselve..............brother Frank
