Online! | Food-buying panic hits Canadian stores | | Food-buying panic hits Canadian stores
With food riots spreading from Haiti to Thailand and retail giants such as Wal-Mart implementing rice rationing in the United States because of shrinking supplies, analysts say Canadians will soon be paying a lot more at the grocery store.
Already, panic buying has hit some Canadian stores. Bruce Cran, president of the Consumers Association of Canada said he was getting calls in British Columbia that store shelves were being emptied of rice by panicked buyers. "I was in one of the national chains and there was one packet of rice left on the shelf." ...

Panic buying will create a shortage in and of itself.
Personally, I know there is a shortage, but it's starting to get hyped up by the media... which triggers panic buying... which creates a shortage withing a shortage... etc.
And bio-fuels is the reason for the shortage. We're burning our food supply in our gas tanks! Thanks American Government!! It's not like people didnt warn that this would happen. When they first got serious about bio-fuels 2 years ago many many people warned of a food shortage happening as a result... and here we are.
And on top of that, the deflation of the dollar is whats causing oil prices to be the way they are. Even the top guy at OPEC said the weak dollar is driving the price up... and now, in their "wisdom" the Fed is cutting insterest rates again... which makes the dollar weaker abroad... which will drive oil prices up even more.
Do you realize that in 1980 oil cost less than $7 a barrel? We're what this afternoon? $121.00?
Our government is so stupid.

Online! | Re: | | I think its reasonable to buy 2-5 LARGE bags of rice if you felt led, that is only a investment of $50 or so and will last for a "long" time. _________________ SI Moderator - Greg Gordon

................................................. Amen, give us this day our daily bread, not give us this day a month supply. People would cry out to God much more than they are now, if they couldn't see their next days food supply, only but only by their faith in the Lord and HIS provision.
Rev 3:17 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: KJV
Mark 10:24-25 24 The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
Luke 4:18-19 18 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Why is he preaching to the poor, the rich people won't hear it.

| Re: | | It has been noised around Washington DC by those who would take away firearms from law abiding citizens (I say it that way because they will never disarm the criminals) that what needs to happen is a ban on ammunition.
They could, in theory, ban the manufacturing and sales of ammunition, thus rendering firearms useless and not violate the Constitution... at least not according the "letter of the law". It certainly goes against the "spirit of the law".
Make no mistake, there are those in Washington who are taking a very serious look at this. Two of them are running for President.
Right now a food shortage doesnt effect me as much as a city dweller because I can just go out my back door and kill whatever we need to eat (and I do), plus we have a large garden which keep our pantry full after canning season in the fall.
Take my ammunition away you take away my ability to feed my family. I'm capable with a bow and arrow, but not enough to want that to be my only means of getting meat!
So for all you fellow hunters out there... my word to you is stock up on shells too.

It's a box of food for fairly cheap. There is usually lots of meat in it. I get it most of the time. _________________ Josh Parsley

| Re: | | Moemac, You left out an important line.
"He has sent me to bind up (heal)the broken hearted.." When there is no healing, people are far less likely be set free from captivity.I believe this particular set of lines needs to be learned/taken to heart in the order given..skipping over the healing part is a common oversight.May God give us the wisdom of heart to be used in the same capacity as our Wonderful Counselor, that we might be used by Him to bind up and heal the broken hearted souls of those who are being held captive. He would save them to the uttermost part of their beings..prospering spirit, soul and body.
Line upon line, precept upon precept. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' In regards to the beginning birth pangs of worldly panic, this is nothing compared to what's coming. We are those who walk by faith and not by sight..we know whose report to believe and so we are not swayed by rumors, appearances of lack, pestilence or famine. We are so very thankful for the promises of God seen/heard clearly in His word to us.
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you! He who abides in the True Vine knows, without a doubt, our God provides!
And so we give great thanks with a joyful heart!Perfect Love casts out all fear. We abide with the very Prince of Peace..this peace He gives us passes all understanding. Hallelujah! _________________ G.M. (Destiny) Sweet

Thanks: explanation Isa 61:1-3 Isaiah 61
61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion-- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
Luke 4:18-19
18 "The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD." NKJV
Luke 4:18-19
18 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." (from New International Version)
Actually destinitysweet I was quoting from Luke 4:18 NIV and not Isaiah 61 KJV when I copied and pasted from the NIV and it leaves that passage out. I guess this builds waltern's case on the KJV. I had rather not leave anything out either.
Notice the verses in Isaiah as Jesus read the scriptures but did not finish the whole quote in Luke as he did while reading in the temple and fulfilling prophesy before the Pharisees very eyes. There is a message there I believe. Thanks for pointing that out and letting me correct that omission. moe_mac |
